“I Didn't Realise This Year I Was ‘The Mustache Guy’”: Riley Green Jokes About Sending Fans into a Frenzy by Shaving

Riley Green has addressed his shocking and highly controversial decision to shave off his signature mustache last month, in a new interview with the Big D and Bubba radio show.

When asked about sending fans into a frenzy with his facial hair switch-up, Riley Green explained, “Every year in the summer, I shave. I like to get a little sun on my face. I didn't realise that this year I was the mustache guy, you know? It was a big deal”.

The ‘Worst Way’ hitmaker went on to joke about the privileges he enjoys when he has his iconic mustache, “The constant reminder is the respect I get on a daily basis. You know, when you have a mustache like this...When you pull up to a four-way stop with four stop signs, and you and another car get there at the same time, you always go first if you have a mustache”, before hilariously adding, “I've seen guys put it in park, get out of their car, take the keys out, like, ‘Hey, I'm not going’”.

When Riley Green shared a photo of his clean-shaven face a few weeks ago, social media descended into chaos as fans lamented the disappearance of a country music staple.

Although he has emerged as one of the genre's leading heartthrobs in recent years, Riley Green is never afraid to poke fun at himself, and he made it clear that he saw the furore that ensued after he shaved, “I saw somebody say...I know y'all saw it, there was quite a bit of talk about it...Somebody said I went from Tombstone to ‘finance’”, referencing the signature mustaches in the hit 1993 Western movie.

Elsewhere, the two hosts made a tongue-in-cheek reference to the dating rumours surrounding Riley Green, Megan Moroney and Ella Langley, teasingly asking him if he was dating Dolly Parton, before getting Green to shave one of the producers.
