While chatting with his close buddy, Theo Von, on the latest episode of his This Past Weekend podcast, Morgan Wallen has shed some light on how much he's enjoying being a father.

As well as touching on his forthcoming album, I'm the Problem, which drops on May 16th, the ‘Love Somebody’ chart-topper reflected on how his son, Indigo, who he shares with KT Smith, has been taking more of an interest in his music in recent months.

“I think it just gets better and better, the older he gets”, Morgan Wallen mused, “I mean, it's always been cool, but you know, he's four years old now, he'll be five this year, just the personality that keeps coming out and the relationship that you build, you know? He's got a little sass on him, he's got a little attitude, which I like”.

Wallen went on to regale Theo with the amusing tale of how his father attempted to get Indigo to eat, to little avail, “I like that spunk. Like yesterday, my dad was...trying to get him to eat. It's kind of a task to get him to sit still long enough to eat, and my dad was like, ‘Hey man, if you don't eat I'm gonna put you in the bedroom and you gotta go to sleep’...I don't know exactly what my dad said to him, but [Indigo] looked at my dad and he said, ‘I don't want you to stay here anymore’”.

Morgan Wallen endearingly went on, “It's just hilarious...just anything to keep him rocking. But he's a sweetheart...he's almost too sweet, he's too nice to everyone, like, people he doesn't know. It's like, ‘Hey man, we don't like everybody, man! We don't know these people, man’...So I'm trying to teach him a little bit of that”.

While most details about Morgan Wallen's new album are being kept under wraps, we were treated to a portion of the tracklist during his controversial SNL appearance last Saturday - although, frustratingly, few people were talking about these easter eggs, following Wallen's abrupt walk-out and the ensuring furore that erupted.

Interestingly, during his discussion with Theo Von, Morgan Wallen has revealed one more song-title from I'm the Problem, and heartwarmingly confirmed it's Indigo's favourite.

Wallen explained, “This album that I've been working on, this is the first time where it seems like he's really starting to put two and two together...I would come home after writing and I'd show him songs this time - this is the first time that he's ever cared”.

He teased, “There's a song called ‘Eyes Are Closed’ on my record and I brought it home that night...and I was just playing it, I wasn't even playing it for him, I just had it playing in the background because it was my first time hearing the demo of what we had done that day. He was in the background and he kind of moseyed on over there and started being like, ‘Oh, what's this?’ And after it was done he said, ‘I like that song, daddy’, and it was like the first time he had ever done that”.

Wallen gushed, “It was a special moment for me, something I'll never forget. He said, ‘Play that again’, and I was like, ‘Yeah! This song's a hit for me, no matter what’...That was the first time I had really seen all those dots start connecting. For a while he thought ‘Soul’ by John Michael Montgomery was me singing. He was like, ’Play daddy's fast song’, he called it ‘the fast song’. He thought that was me singing, and I said, ‘Damn man! That dude sounds pretty good, but come on...’”.

We can't wait to hear ‘Eyes Are Closed’, along with another unreleased offering that Morgan Wallen has shared earlier in the year, ‘Superman’. Wallen penned the heartfelt track for Indigo, with the ‘Everything You Love’ singer-songwriter delving into just how much that song means to him during his conversation with Theo Von.

Wallen underlined, “It'll be out soon...I've tried with so many songs to write a song like that for him, and it always fell flat. So I'd listen to it on the way home or whatever after we wrote it, and I'd be like, ‘It's good, you know, but it's not how I want it’. And I also didn't want to write a song to him that was all, I don't know, sappy and slow, you know? What you would expect a dad-son song to be...‘Oh, I wish you wouldn't grow up’, all of that. Like I didn't want it to be that. I didn't want that song at all - that song's been written plenty enough, and I wanted to have a little bit of my sound and my swag, and to be honest. So it was a hard thing to try to get all those things wrapped up into one song. It's called ‘Superman’”.

He concluded be sharing that this is the only song he's written for Indigo that has made him cry, “I feel like we accomplished that. When we wrote it and I was riding home...it was actually the last song that made my record, so it's not like I've had it for a long time. It took us a while to get that song...and it was actually Blake [Pendergrass]’ idea. The hook was different, though...I was just singing it and I was like, ‘Oh, I know what it is’, and I changed the hook and it made it. It was like, ‘Oh, there it is’, and all four of us in the room were like, ‘Oh yeah, that's it’. You know, and then on the way home I was listening to it and started crying, and that's the first time that had happened with a song for him, so I kind of knew”.

Elsewhere during his interview with Theo Von, Morgan Wallen outlined that he intended to have a BigXthaPlug collaboration on the record, but the rapper didn't finish his verse in time. Regardless, it's safe to say the sense of anticipation is sky-high ahead of the Sneedville native's fourth studio album, I'm the Problem.
