When US artists make the fabled trip across The Pond to perform in the UK, they often speak about British fans with a mix of reverence and bemusement, expressing their disbelief at the fact that they simply stood and…well, listened to the set. No talking, no rowdy disruptions - just a deep-seated appreciation for great music.
There’s also a distinct sense of loyalty from UK country fans, born partly from the fact that they don’t have the same level of regular access to the genre’s biggest hitters - something that their US counterparts have at their fingertips. As a result, when an artist makes the effort to return to the UK again and again, they notice.
This is undoubtedly the case for Halle Kearns, who comes back to the UK this week for her keenly awaited 2025 tour, proudly presented by JOY Concerts and Holler. It includes a trio of tour-stops in Manchester, Brighton and London, as well as a momentous appearance at Leicestershire’s beloved Long Road Festival 2025. At the latter, Kearns will perform at 11:30am on Saturday, August 22nd on the Front Porch, and the following day at 12:30pm on the Rhinestone main-stage.
Speaking to Holler in the lead-up to the shows, Kearns underlines just how excited she is to hit the stage this side of The Atlantic once again, following packed-out sets at London’s C2C Festival, “I honestly can’t wait. C2C was one of my favorite musical experiences I’ve had yet...the energy, the way the fans truly connected with the lyrics...it all blew me away. Coming back feels a bit like coming home!”
She teases that ticket-holders can look forward to a varied setlist for every show, ensuring they experience a one-of-a-kind performance, “Absolutely! Since I’m playing acoustic, my goal is to mix up the setlist each night and give each city a truly unique experience. The new ones will definitely be included throughout the week”.
Fans’ ears will have no doubt pricked at the mention of “new ones”, with Kearns’ irresistible June single, ‘Wish You Gone’, and the philosophical ‘Some Day You Will’, keeping the anticipation high ahead of her debut full-length studio album.
“Yes! There is so much on the horizon”, Kearns excitedly reassures listeners, “I’ve been writing a lot, and spending a significant amount of time in the studio. I am stoked to show off some of these each night, and get a temperature on crowd favorites!”
‘Someday You Will’ showcases Kearns’ ability to create a warm, peaceful ambience through the blend of the undulating, layered instrumental and her rich, evocative vocals, while the likes of ‘Homemade Margaritas’ demonstrate the Missouri prodigy’s more playful, honky-tonkin’ side. We can’t wait see both on tour this week.
“One thing I’m most excited about is hearing what’s requested by fans”, Kearns muses, “I remember last time I was here, people were requesting some deep cuts…to the point where I once had to actually remind myself of my own lyrics! I think any time I know someone is connecting with specific lyrics - that momentarily becomes my favorite to perform”. The ‘Clothes on the Line’ singer-songwriter adds a hint, “Recently, I’ve had a lot of fun with ‘The Boot’. You’ll see why soon!”
For those who might be new to Kearns’ compelling sound, she offers a blueprint of her biggest influences, as well as tipping her cap to newer artists such as Gracie Abrams, “I grew up on 90’s country, I love LeeAnn Womack, Faith Hill, The Chicks, etc., and think I pull a lot of inspiration from women like them. More recently, I’ve been loving Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, and Gracie Abrams. I consider my sound dreamy and soft, whilst still very honest and introspective”.
Kearns emphasises that, in-between tour-stops, she’ll be making sure to explore some of the key tourism spots outside of the Big Smoke, “Actually, London is the only city I have been to so far! It was one of my favorite places I’ve visited to date. I adore towns with rich history/culture, so there isn’t one stop I’m not eager to explore.. Plus I’ve heard y’all’s vintage shopping is unmatched over here!”
This captures the genuine love and appreciation Kearns so clearly feels for her fanbase across The Pond - and when she strides onto the stage in Manchester, Brighton, London and Leicestershire, she’ll feel that adoration reflected right back at her.
