Well, it's looking like a good day, folks. We're getting ready to stuff ourselves with Pancakes in honour of Shrove Tuesday (or Fat Tuesday for our US friends), it's the first day of the Lunar New Year - and most crucially of all, Emily Nenni is back with new music.

Emily Nenni has officially unveiled her eagerly anticipated new album, Movin’ Shoes, with the lead single from the record, ‘Livin’ in Shame’, being made available to stream everywhere immediately. The full project arrives on Friday, May 1st 2026.

Exclusive to Holler, Nenni is premiering the innovative music video for ‘Livin’ in Shame’, an inspiring battle-cry that cuts to the heart of this next chapter in the California native's journey.

Nenni's charismatic, ethereal vocals float across the refreshingly bright and wonderfully twangy array of guitars, as she reflects on the various social pressures that keep us from being our authentic selves. The visuals, which were directed by Joshua Shoemaker - who has worked with Nenni previously on videos such as ‘Get to Know Ya’ - revolve around a close-up of the alt-country trailblazer against a vivid pink backdrop. As the video progresses, Nenni's eye shadow and make-up is removed, her hair is let down, and she strips everything back.

Watch the official music video for Emily Nenni's new song, ‘Livin’ in Shame’, premiering exclusively on Holler, below:

It captures the spirit of being whoever we want to be, and not pandering to outside forces who may want us to look a certain way. Nenni and Shoemaker channel Coldplay's famous visuals for ‘The Scientist’, where Chris Martin sings the song backwards.

Nenni reflects on the process behind the new video, “I'm proud to work with Joshua Shoemaker for the third time. 'Livin' in Shame' is encouraging myself and others to be kinder to ourselves and our bodies, because we have been too critical for too long. This is filmed in reverse to convey the message of the song, with makeup being swiped away and left with the bare bones. I worked with a linguist overseas, Liam, who taught me to mouth the song backwards. This video was very outside of my comfort zone, but so is voicing my insecurities out loud”.

It's a striking video that embodies the song's message that there is strength in vulnerability, honesty and sincerity, a mantra that will permeate Nenni's fourth full-length album.

The creation of Movin’ Shoes was fuelled by a desire from Nenni to be less judgemental of herself, and to accept every aspect of her being, rather than deeming some to be qualities and others to be flaws. In turn, she encourages listeners to do the same.

The ‘Drive & Cry’ crooner muses, “I caught myself saying how I can't wait until I'm in the second half of my life when I will hopefully no longer judge myself so much, and feel more free. It occurred to me that, one, I don't know how many years I'll get to be on this Earth, and two, that I can start being kinder and more free now”.

Nenni movingly expands, “I think of all of the people that I know who are beautiful inside and out, and they somehow don't feel that they're good enough. If we hear each other say something unkind about ourselves, we remind each other to be easier on ourselves. I'd love it if we could speak to ourselves the way we speak to ones we love, because life is too short to get caught up in the superficial”.

Nenni is preparing to embark on a momentous tour that'll take the traditional-leaning country maverick across North America, as well as to Europe for a couple of high-profile festival appearances. With the arrival of ‘Livin’ in Shame’ and the news that a new project is en route, 2026 is shaping up to be another stellar year for Nenni, as she continues the momentum from her lauded third album, Drive & Cry.
