Dwight Yoakam Drops Post Malone Collaboration, Announces First Album in Nearly a Decade

After teaming up with an A-list roster of country stars for his F-1Trillion opus, Post Malone is now being tapped by another: Dwight Yoakam.

The 'Guitars & Cadillacs' legend called on the pop star-turned-country newcomer for 'I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)', the lead offering from his upcoming record, Brighter Days.

The new single, which dropped today (Friday, September 6), is a rollicking honky tonk-flavored ballad, a deceptively cheery one at that. With the collaboration, the duo immortalize the pain, confusion and loss of words that accompany a fated farewell.

"I don’t know how to say goodbye," the song plays against a wall of wailing steel and buoyant rhythms. "I don’t know where I would start to even try / I never learned, can't tell you why / But I don't know how to say goodbye."

In late August, Yoakam and Malone were spotted on horseback somewhere along Hollywood's Sunset Strip. Donning cowboy hats and glittering Nudie Suits, the two stars were filming a suspected music video, likely to pair with the recent collaboration.

In a video captured by onlookers, they can be heard belting the tune over a piped-in recording.

'I Don’t Know How To Say Goodbye (Bang Bang Boom Boom)' isn't the first time the two stars have joined forces. Most recently, Malone made a surprise appearance during Yoakam's late July outing at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre. There, the duo performed a pair of Yoakam classics, 'Guitars & Cadillacs' and 'Fast as You'.

Yoakam's Brighter Days is set for a Nov. 15 release and will mark the country stalwart's first collection of new music in nearly a decade.
