Alabaman songwriter Drayton Farley has announced his third studio album, A Heavy Duty Heart.

Set for release on March 27, the 'Pitchin' Fits' singer has already shared two excellent songs from the record in the form of the hardened 'It's Called Doubt' and haunting 'Turn Around'.

Today, alongside the announcement of the album, Farley has shared the third taste of it in 'I'll Hold You', an observation of both his journey and his place in the world, and how he'd leave it all in a moment and travel any mile to get back to one person that makes him happy in a blue world.

It's Springsteen-esque in its bright, ricocheting chords and reverberating electric guitar that haunts the choruses, like a classic 80s driving song that follows Farley in the journey.

Described as a "stunning meditation on love and fear," it feels suitable that Sadler Vaden is behind the board on production duties for this record; the influence of the 400 Unit on the full-bodied sound of the album so far is unquestionable.

This takes nothing away from Farley's songwriting. If anything, it accentuates it, allowing his strength as a songwriter to be bolstered by the atmospheric qualities of Vaden's work behind the scenes.

At this stage this couldn't be clearer than on 'Turn Around', a beautiful ode to never giving up and always throwing one more punch for what you believe in.

"“I feel like if you're going to write about yourself and your life, then just write about the way it is,” Farley explained upon the announcement of the album, “That honesty is going to translate. People are going to know when you’re bullshitting them or not.”

From what we've heard so far, we couldn't agree more - Farley's plainspoken and frank observations are both world-worn and earnest, he's not afraid to be vulnerable and share his desires in life and love. If this comes to form the crux of A Heavy Duty Heart, then we're in for a potential Album of the Year contender.

What's extra exciting is that Farley will celebrate the release of A Heavy Duty Heart on March 27 with a very intimate and exclusive album release show party at Skinny Dennis in Nashville. More details and ticket information is set to come.

Farley has recently featured on the soundtrack of the TV smash hit Landman, the Paramount show, debuting "It's Called Doubt" as well as featuring his standalone single, "Touch and Go." "Turn Around," meanwhile, featured on a recent episode of CBS' Sheriff Country.
