It's official, y'all - Jessie Murph Season is well and truly underway. The genre-blending prodigy has today (Tuesday, June 3rd) announced that her eagerly anticipated new album, Sex Hysteria, will arrive on July 18th. The next single from the project, the previously teased ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’, drops this Friday (June 6th).
Alongside ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’, the blockbuster record will also feature the recently released singles, ‘Gucci Mane’ and ’Blue Strips’, both of which quickly went viral after dropping. It already appears ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’ is en route to similar success, judging by the excitement surrounding the track across social media.
Jessie Murph has accompanied the album announcement with an enigmatic new trailer video, which finds the ‘Sip’ crooner addressing a new flame, “Hey baby. Now, I know we ain't been talking for too long, but there's some things I feel like you just really don't know about me. Do you wanna know a secret?” It seems this is the introduction to the Alabama native's new single, ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’, with Murph playing this same phone-call before her recent performance of the track.
The rest of the Sex Hysteria tracklist is yet to be revealed, with just ‘Gucci Mane’, ‘Blue Strips’ and ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’ being shown on the pre-order at present.
The project is 15 tracks long, marking Murph's lengthiest project to date. Surprisingly, her sensual 2024 single, ‘Sip’, is nowhere to be found. Given the fact that ‘Sip’ did not feature on her sophomore album, That Ain't No Man That's The Devil, fans were assuming this would be included on her third record - but it appears not.
Either way, we can't wait to see what Murph has up her sleeve for the blockbuster project. All the teaser videos and singles so far are tied together by the same dark, gritty and sultry ambience, suggesting Sex Hysteria may well be a concept album.
