“No, We Didn't Almost Break Up Again...”: Dan + Shay Announce Comeback with New Song, ‘Say So’

After teasing major news via social media last night (Monday, March 30th 2026), Dan + Shay have officially announced the first single from their eagerly awaited new chapter.

The duo are dropping ‘Say So’, a heartfelt reflection on losing a friend, on Friday, April 3rd, with the ‘10,000 Hours’ hitmakers sharing a lengthy message to fans via social media.

Dan + Shay - consisting of Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney - explain, “As you know, we've been quiet for a while, and we just wanted to start by saying thank you so much for being patient with us. No, we didn't almost break up again lol. In fact, our friendship is stronger than ever, and we're really proud of that. Over the past year, we have gotten to spend more time in th studio together than we have since we made the Where It All Began album in 2013, and that has been so live-giving”.

They then hint at a 2026 tour, “Even though we've missed seeing everyone on the road (that changes soon - stay tuned), and keeping up with you on socials, we've had what we feel is the most inspired burst of creativity in our entire career, and we wanted to capture every bit of it. Sounds cliché for an artist to say, but these songs really are more personal and honest than anything we have ever done before. Because the music means so much to us, we have held it close and obsessed over every detail, but now we are ready to start sharing it with the world”.

The duo have been hinting at a reunion ever since their sincere video address last October. Then, more recently, fans spotted an “+” symbol had been added to the Stagecoach 2026 line-up, seemingly teasing a surprise appearance from the country chart-toppers.

In an official statement, Dan + Shay shed light on the touching inspiration behind ‘Say So’, and the impact they hope it has, “‘Say So’ is a reminder that no matter what you are going through, you don’t have to go through it alone. We wrote this song from a very personal place and could not be prouder to stand behind the message”.

Given the fact that Dan + Shay possess some of the biggest hits in the modern country landscape, including ‘10,000 Hours’, ‘Tequila’ and ‘Speechless, fans are keenly counting down the days until they get to hear the first song from the duo's brand new era.
