One of the most beloved American traditions, Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, is getting a dash of country music as it plans to ring in 2025.
The annual television special broadcast by ABC has unveiled its first batch of performers, and among them are none other than country award-winners Cody Johnson and Thomas Rhett, as well as friend to the genre, Teddy Swims.
Johnson, who is coming off of his recent CMA Award win for Album of the Year, will be making his first appearance on the famed New Year's Eve show on December 31st as he more than likely will be right in the middle of the excitement in New York City's Times Square. Similarly, the newest viral pairing of Rhett and Swims will likely team up for a rendition of their just-released duet version of 'Somethin' Bout A Woman.'
Joining the crew in this first round of performers are icon Lenny Kravitz and R&B singer Tinashe with more to be announced in the coming weeks.
This New Year's Eve won't be the first ball drop that Rhett has seen as he served as a headliner for the larger-than-life evening back in 2016 alongside some impressive company in DNCE, Gloria Estefan and Mariah Carey.
Additionally, last year's annual New Year's Eve party saw Jelly Roll and Jessie Murph take the stage in Times Square, yet country artists have been prominently featured in the festivities quite a bit in recent years with performances from the likes of Bailey Zimmerman, Maddie & Tae, Walker Hayes, Sam Hunt, Kelsea Ballerini, Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina, Florida Georgia Line, Maren Morris, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Jimmy Buffett, among others.
Hosted by lauded TV personality Ryan Seacrest, New Year's Rockin' Eve is one of the most-watched events throughout the entire year. Drawing the largest viewership of any non-sports related show, the nearly six-hour special pulled in more than 22 million total viewers as the calendar turned over to 2024.
