Cody Johnson has made history with his electrifying 2026 RODEOHOUSTON show last night (Sunday, March 22nd 2026), which featured surprise cameos from Carrie Underwood and Carín León, as well as support from openers Jon Pardi and Randy Houser.

The man affectionately known as CoJo broke the NRG Stadium's all-time concert-only attendance record, performing his traditional-leaning anthems to a whopping 80,203 fans.

George Strait previously held the concert-only attendance record at the much-loved venue, performing to 80,108 attendees alongside Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen in 2019.

Given how Johnson is making a point of keeping classic, steel-soaked country music alive in 2026 - the kind Strait was a pioneer of - we think The King of Country will be more than happy to learn that CoJo is the man who has taken his record from him.

Johnson pulled out all the stops, even eschewing his usual stand-and-deliver approach for something more Garth-esque, standing on a platform that rose dramatically into the air.

Johnson served up a live-wire set featuring hits such as the galvanising ‘Til You Can't’ and ‘Human’, as well as unexpected link-ups with his ‘I'm Gonna Love You’ duet partner, Carrie Underwood, along with Sonora, Mexico genre-blender, Carín León.

Johnson and León are rumoured to be joining forces for a forthcoming song, which is set to appear on the latter's country-inspired project. According to previous interviews with León, the record also features contributions from Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson.
