This year, a star-studded cast of country artists are coming together to help celebrate the fact that Willie Nelson is turning 90.
The Long Story Short: Willie Nelson 90 festivities begin on the country legend's birthday, April 29, and continue the following day.
An eclectic mix of established acts and innovative, rising stars have been confirmed for the event, including Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers, Charley Crockett, The Chicks, Kacey Musgraves, Miranda Lambert, Sheryl Crow and more.
A particularly interesting inclusion in the line-up is alt-country favourite, Sturgill Simpson. Willie Nelson's celebration, which is due to take place at California's Hollywood Bowl, will mark Sturgill Simpson's first live show since he damaged his vocal chords in 2021.
The performances will pay tribute to Willie's illustrious career, which has spawned a cornucopia of historic hits, from ‘Whiskey River’ and ‘Always On My Mind’ to ‘On the Road Again’ and ‘Crazy’.
As exciting as the mesmerising array of artists in the line-up may be, it seems nobody is looking forward to the special occasion as much as Willie himself.
The Texas legend commented, “I can’t think of a better way to spend my 90th birthday than being surrounded by family, friends, and of course the fans who made this all possible. It’s an honor to perform with such an incredible group of artists at such an iconic venue”.
