Charley Crockett has today released a new video for his single ‘Midnight Run’.
The song features on his latest album 10 for Slim: Charley Crockett Sings James Hand, which was released at the end of February.
Speaking of the video, Crockett said, “I never did quite figure out what ol’ Slim was getting at when he wrote 'Midnight Run'.
James Hand hauled a lot of 18 wheelers in his time. He talked about running those trucks back and forth between Texas & Louisiana and some of the predicaments he’d find himself in.
After cuttin' the song myself I imagined him running in an old pick up truck in the middle of the night.
Just kinda got the idea to film the bright lights of Vegas casinos from inside the cab of my old F250. Motels, slot machines, back pocket money, love gone wrong and a two lane highway.
These are the things that make up the life of a honky tonker. I could’ve maybe found an 18 wheeler and filmed it all in Texas but just like with James’ songs I thought I’d better not even try to do it like him. No sir, I’d better just do something different”.
Charley Crockett has put his own spin on this collection of songs which are available to buy and stream now.
