BigXthaPlug has confirmed the release date for his eagerly anticipated new album, I Hope You're Happy, with the country-leaning project set to drop on Friday, August 22nd.
Although the tracklist is yet to be unveiled, the ‘Change Me’ rapper has previously hinted that Ella Langley, Post Malone and Jelly Roll will be appearing on the record.
The already-released ‘Home’ with Shaboozey and ‘All The Way’ with Bailey Zimmerman are almost definitely going to be featuring, and we're still holding out hope that BigX has made amends with Morgan Wallen after not finishing his ‘Miami’ verse in time.
Wallen chatted to Theo Von earlier in the year as part of his This Past Weekend podcast, and revealed that he had wanted BigXthaPlug to be a guest artist on ‘Miami’ from his new album, I'm the Problem. The ‘Last Night’ hitmaker seemed somewhat frustrated as he explained that BigX hadn't written his verse in time, and subsequently recruited Lil Wayne and Rick Ross for the ‘Miami’ remix, which arrived last month.
Post Malone, meanwhile, is all but confirmed for I Hope You're Happy, with ERNEST sharing a photo from the studio with Post and BigXthaPlug in February. Jelly Roll has also spoken about a forthcoming collaboration with BigX, as has Ella Langley.
The latter has been teasing the unreleased song, which appears to be called ‘Hell of a Night’, and it feels like this is being lined up as the focus track from the new album.
I Hope You're Happy is certainly being promoted as a country-inspired project, and the rumoured guest-list adds weight to this. However, BigXthaPlug previously referred to his debut country record as being an EP, rather than a full-length album.
The fact that I Hope You're Happy is now being billed as an ‘album’ could suggest that BigXthaPlug will include some solely rap anthems in tandem with the country tracks.
In July, BigX shared a clip of him delivering some fiery bars, seemingly titled ‘To Whom It May Concern’, and this could serve as an intro or perhaps just a standalone rap track.
Either way, the excitement is through the roof as BigX readies what is shaping up to be a blockbuster release, and one of the most keenly awaited country-crossovers of 2025.
