This one has been a long time coming.
When BigXthaPlug first started discussing his first ever country project around a year ago, it seemed like there was no question that Post Malone would be at the top of the guestlist.
A few weeks after these inital hints, we were teased with a photo from a studio session between BigX, ERNEST and Post, seemingly cementing the latter's involvement in the album. Post then brought out the ‘Texas’ rapper during his 2025 Detroit show, with BigX confirming in a June interview that they'd been recording together.
However, when we finally got the tracklist for BigX's I Hope You're Happy record, which dropped in August, Posty was nowhere to be seen. The features were absolutely stacked, with Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Ella Langley, Darius Rucker and more appearing on the genre-blurring body of work - but we'd be lying if we didn't feel a little bit disappointed that the ‘Congratulations’ hitmaker was absent.
Now, though, it looks like we're going to be getting that coveted link-up between BigX and Posty, with the duo being spotted filming a new music video over the weekend.
In tandem with the leaked footage - which finds the two artists hanging out on a ranch, as well as sitting around a campfire - the first snippet of the joint track has now surfaced.
The track follows the same innovative, country-trap blueprint that underpinned I Hope You're Happy, with Post taking the helm for the infectious, brooding ‘Cold’ hook, before BigX grabs the microphone for the fiery, heart-on-his-sleeve verse.
There's no release date just yet, but we feel fairly confident that it's no accident these visuals and the unreleased clip have started circulating now. We suspect an announcement is imminent, with BigX opting for a similar rollout for his viral ‘All the Way’ collaboration with Bailey Zimmerman and for ‘Home’ with Shaboozey.
Given the fact that both BigX and Post have strong ties to Dallas, Texas, ‘Cold’ serves as a homecoming anthem of sorts for the dynamic duo. We're wondering whether ‘Cold’ will be appearing on an expanded deluxe version of I Hope You're Happy. If so, we're hoping BigX and Morgan Wallen have at long last found time to hit the studio, following the miscommunication that foiled their ‘Miami’ duet...
