Anne Wilson has consolidated her close relationship with the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, with the Kentucky trailblazer sharing a heartwarming new video of her singing to a St. Jude patient, Annzie, at the Grand Ole Opry.

The sweet moment was captured backstage during Nashville's hugely popular Opry Benefitting St. Jude charity event, which also featured stellar on-stage performances from the likes of Kelsea Ballerini, Charles Kelley, Mitchell Tenpenny and more.

Wilson surprises Annzie backstage, with the ‘Stars’ singer-songwriter treating the seven-year-old - who recently underwent a bone marrow transplant at St. Jude - to a special, private performance of one of Annzie's favourite songs, ‘God Story’.

It felt like a particularly pertinent song-choice, with ‘God Story’ finding Wilson reflecting on the grief of losing her brother at the age of just 23, before paying tribute to how she has emerged from this darkness by leaning on her faith. One can only imagine how fearful Annzie and her fellow patients must feel during their various health challenges, and Wilson's ‘God Story’ offers some welcome comfort and solace.

Taking to Instagram after the event, Wilson underlined how much she admires Annzie and any other children having to go through what she is going through, “It meant so much to me to be a part of @stjude night at the @opry. I loved getting to meet sweet patients like Annzie 🥹 It’s moments like this that truly remind me we all have a God Story. I’m so grateful for the hope and healing @stjude brings to so many. Join me in supporting this amazing place at musicgives.org 🤍”.

Later in the evening, Annzie and another St. Jude patient, Harper, made a joyful, unexpected cameo during Kelsea's Ballerini's set to dance along to her HEARTFIRST hit, ’IF YOU GO DOWN (I'M GOIN’ DOWN TOO)’. Both Annzie and Harper also served as the special guest announcers throughout the star-studded evening.

Country music and St. Jude have joined forces throughout the past few years, with various artists helping to draw attention to the Children's Research Hospital's life-changing work, and encouraging fans and aficionados to donate to the cause.

Since 1962, St. Jude has helped elevate the overall survival rate of childhood cancer from 20% to more than 80%, with the Tennessee hospital reiterating that it won't rest until no child dies from cancer. Music Gives to St. Jude Kids remains one of the most successful music fundraising programs in the US, with over 350 radio and music partners getting on-board to help spotlight the donation campaign.
