One of Tennessee's most revered annual outings, Moon River Music Festival, will be taking a pause from its usual event programming in 2024.

Following its 2023 event, festival organizers took to socials to share that Moon River would not be held this coming September as they "explore some exciting opportunities to return bigger and better than ever in 2025."

Appearing on The What Podcast, Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly discussed some of the reasons that played into this decision, including inflation and economics.

While the news is upsetting for regular attendees, fans need not fear as the event is expected to return to it's usual glory next year.

Presented by Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, the 2023 event featured headlining sets from Hozier and NEEDTOBREATHE, who filled in last minute for award-winning band Caamp. Under the name Goodbye Road, the festival presenters also joined forces with duo JOHNNYSWIM for a special Saturday night performance.

Elsewhere on the two-day, two-stage bill, high-flying acts like Nickel Creek, Marcus King Band, Judah & the Lion, First Aid Kit, Noah Cyrus, Larry Fleet, Houndmouth, Larkin Poe and Shane Smith & The Saints also took over the Iris and Poplar stages.

Founded in 2014, the 2024 edition was meant to mark Moon River Music Festival's ninth installment and the sixth at Chattanooga's Coolidge Park after expanding from its original home at the historic Levitt Shell in Memphis, TN.

Since moving to Chattanooga, festival goers have experienced unforgettable memories with past headliners like Brandi Carlile, The Avett Brothers, The National, Wilco, Lord Huron, Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit and The Head and the Heart.
