LANA DEL REY STAGECOACH 2025 SET

Date: Friday, April 25th 2025

Time: 8:10-9.10pm

Location: Palomino Stage at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California

When we went along to Reading Festival last summer, we were expecting a full-on country set from Lana Del Rey, ahead of an album, Lasso, that was expected to drop on 9 September 2024. When the set didn't include any new country adjacent material and the scheduled album didn't materialise last year, we all but gave up on having our country moment with Lana Del Rey.

Until late last September that is, when Lana Del Rey was announced as one of the performers for this year's Stagecoach Festival on Friday 25 April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.

Lana Del Rey then officially confirmed her long-awaited new album, The Right Person Will Stay, would be released on May 21, 2025, a month after her Stagecoach performance. Originally, the forthcoming project, which would be Lana's first full-length country album, was due to be titled Lasso, with the record tentatively slated for a September 2024 release. However, in November, she unveiled the new 2025 release date for the project, which has been renamed The Right Person Will Stay, but it was still uncertain whether this was the shelved country project or a brand-new album of non-country material.

Our suspicions of it being a country album were all but confirmed when the stage splits were revealed on 11 February 2025 and Lana Del Rey was billed as "Featuring a Very Special Country Set" on the Palomino Stage. It looks like Lana is planning on using her Stagecoach set as a launch point for the new material, in a similar way to how Post Malone debuted the lead single from his country album, F-1 Trillion, performing ‘I Had Some Help’ with Morgan Wallen at Stagecoach 2023.

"I’m so excited to see everybody in the desert in April!" Lana Del Rey posted to her socials alongside the reveal and a slide of her wearing Sketchers. "This has been such a crazy nine months and I’m so blessed that come the 25th, It will have been a year since I got to headline Coachella. Thank you to my buddies over there at the festival for letting me play my new songs this year for you – and to my amazing band helping me kick things off with rehearsals this week – oh lol and thank you sketchers for making the finest damn collaboration with John Deere. I’m not gonna lie. I’m proud of you for that. Please send more work boots for the boys ASAP."

With dusk due for 8pm on Friday 25 April, the stage will be perfectly set for a dramatic sunset performance from Lana Del Rey, with surprise guests all but guaranteed.

Over the last year, Lana Del Rey has continually linked up with big-name country acts and fans will be hoping she surprises them on Friday. After performing a cover of the Righteous Brothers' 'Unchained Melody' with Paul Cauthen at last year's Stagecoach festival during his set, this won't be Lana Del Rey's first time performing at the festival and Cauthen could be a potential guest if he repays the favour during Lana's set.

Another potential guest could have been Megan Moroney, after Lana joined Me-Mo during her set at Hangout Music Festival last year for a festival stealing duet of 'Tennessee Orange,' but sadly Megan is all the way over in St Louis, Missouri, as part of her Am I Okay? tour.

In addition, Lana has previously been photographed with the likes of Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll, with fans hoping both could make an appearance during her set on the Palomino Stage on Friday night. Jelly Roll, in particular could be likely, as he performs on the Saturday night of the festival on the T-Mobile Main Stage, but Lainey also has a Stagecoach sized hole in her calendar between 25 and 27 April.

Lana also performed backing vocals for Lukas Nelson at The Ryman Auditorium towards the end of 2023, alongside Meg McRee and Nikki Lane and with Nikki playing the Palomino Stage earlier in the day on Friday it's very likely she'll join the 'Video Games' singer for her headline set. The pair previously collaborated on the song 'Breaking Up Slowly' from Lana's 2021 album Chemtrails Over The Country Club.

Lana and Nikki Lane could possibly perform their song 'Prettiest Girl In Country Music,' which they previously teased back in 2022 during Lane's show at Sam's Town Point in Austin, Texas, along with another Friday Stagecoach performer, Sierra Ferrell; Holler would be very surprised if the 'American Dreaming' singer didn't join Lana Del Rey for at least a song at Stagecoach.

Also on the bill at Stagecoach is Carter Faith, who has previously expressed that Lana Del Rey is her dream collaboration partner. Faith's deeply honest storytelling and the lush, melodramatic countrypolitan sound of her recent releases would be a perfect fit with Lana Del Rey's woozy cinematic recordings. Plus, with both artists having songs titled 'Bluebird' they could do a mash up of the two.

Although not on the Stagecoach bill, Lana Del Rey has collaborated with Americana singer Holly Macve on her song 'Suburban House,' and she could potentially join Lana for a song.

Her friendship with Taylor Swift has also led some internet sleuths to notice that Taylor has nothing in the diary for Stagecoach weekend, suggesting this would be the perfect stage for Taylor to make a surprise appearance.

In recent years, Del Rey has tried to test the country waters by performing a cover of Tammy Wynette's 'Stand By Your Man' during her Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd promotional tour set list and by releasing a cover version of John Denver's classic anthem, ’Take Me Home, Country Roads’ in 2023 and both would be a very popular addition to her set.

So far, both songs that have trailed the forthcoming album have been written with Luke Laird, and the country hit songwriter could be the link between another possible special guest appearance at Stagecoach, after Lane was photographed with Laird, stage engineer Cody Osbourne and Dolly Parton. Could the Queen of Country herself be about to make a star turn at Stagecoach this weekend. Lana would be perfect for a cover of one of Dolly's darker, southern gothic country songs like 'Down From Dover' or 'Jeannie’s Afraid of the Dark.'

Despite also performing a headline set at Stagecoach, over on the T-Mobile Main Stage at 9.30pm on Friday 25 April, Zach Bryan would still logistically have time to join Lana for a song during her set. Perhaps a run through her breakthrough hit 'Video Games,' which Bryan has previously covered live. Nothing is out of the question when it comes to Zach Bryan!

Another of Lana Del Rey's country besties, Kacey Musgraves, is unfortunately already booked to headline the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival at the same time as Lana takes the stage on 25 April so unless she has access to a time portal she won't be joining her at Stagecoach.

Whatever Lana Del Rey does it's bound to be an unforgettable, iconic performance which promises to be one of the highlights and big talking points of this year's Stagecoach festival.

Until Friday night though, Lana Del Rey's loyal fanbase will be waiting expectantly to see what the queen of sad brings to her dusk desert set.
