It’s the start of a long weekend of partying over in the UK, and what better way to kick it all off than with our favourite DJ mescoleros and their unique take on acid-fried funk-fuelled cosmic country rock-infused desert disco.
To celebrate the super limited vinyl release of the cult DJ and producer duo Flying Mojito Bros new double compilation they’ve put together an exclusive hour-long mix for Holler.
Their Greatest Hits (1970-1983) release brings together 15 of the duo’s most celebrated releases to date plus an exclusive new track, loosely mixed to offer a continuous listen in line with Flying Mojito Bros’ famed mixtapes, but also allowing DJs to beatmix as they please. The double vinyl set includes reworkings of Steely Dan, The Doors, Neil Young, ZZ Top, CSNY, Santana, Warren Zevon and lots more.
While the re-edits masses repeatedly pick over the bones of soul, funk and disco, acid cowboys Flying Mojito Bros have created a name for themselves in looking uniquely to the vast, sun-baked, dust-caked libraries of americana, country and AOR for inspiration. Determined to keep alive the spirit of bygone sounds but serving them up afresh for a party hard audience, they’re now known as the go-to guys for reworking all things classic rock and cosmic country, while their sizzling pot of party starters has been bringing the piquín heat to clubs, parties, poolside bars and late-night festival tents from Somerset to Texas.
In addition to their current ‘Relatively Clean Ravers’ residency at The Social in London, Flying Mojito Bros have worked their magic on official remixes of Katy J Pearson, Flamingods, Raf Rundell, Black Peaches, Jouis, 77:78, Scott Hirsch, James Matthew VII, Jeffrey Silverstein, Rudy Norman, Gloria Ann Taylor and loads more.
So whether you’re crouching under an umbrella on a windswept English beach desperately trying to light a barbecue or getting your gams out in the sunshine in Primavera, turn it up and enjoy this exclusive hour long Flying Mojito Bros mix! Your long bank holiday weekend starts here, Holler crew.
Catch Flying Mojito Bros out on tour this Summer at Glastonbury, Pikes Ibiza, various festivals across the UK and Europe and then Austin City Limits. If you’re quick you might still be able to pick up a copy of the vinyl version from their Bandcamp page or at select indie record stores here.
