After teasing new music earlier in the week, Randy Travis has announced his first original song in over a decade, with the country icon set to release ‘Where That Came From’ on May 3rd.

The ‘Forever and Ever, Amen’ hitmaker shared the momentous news across his socials, alongside a clip of the ‘90s-inspired track and a video of Randy recording the song.

Randy Travis, who has suffered from the debilitating language-disorder, aphasia, since his stroke in 2013, outlined, “It’s been a while since my last new recording, but I’m excited to share that this Friday, May 3, I will be releasing my first brand new studio recording in more than a decade, ‘Where That Came From’”.

The North Carolina singer-songwriter went on to tease he has more new music on the way, “You’ll hear much more about the special team of folks who came together to help make this magical moment in my career possible in the coming week. In the meantime, just know that when it comes to me singing songs for you, there’s always more where that came from. Thank you for singing along all these years”.

Randy Travis has been a universally beloved figure ever since his hugely influential run of chart-toppers in the late ‘80s and ‘90s. The ‘Three Wooden Crosses’ crooner has made a number of high-profile public appearances in recent months.

For instance, in February he emerged on-stage during Oliver Anthony's Ryman Auditorium show and praised Anthony's traditional-leaning sound, before being brought out and championed as a ‘hero’ by Lainey Wilson in Oklahoma the following month.

The unveiling of the new song, ‘Where That Came From’, which will be Randy Travis’ first original recording since his celebrated 2014 project, Influence, Vol. 2: The Man I Am, comes after Cody Johnson shared a video of him listening to Randy's forthcoming release. CoJo warmly shared, “This is incredible. Y’all aren’t ready!”

Given Randy Travis’ legendary status and the fact that many fans thought he'd never record another album, the news of this single - and the hints at a full-length record on the horizon - has been met with widespread excitement from the country music world.
