After exclusively sharing with Holler earlier in the year that he was beginning the recording process for his new album in March 2024, Parker McCollum has now taken to X (formerly Twitter) to offer another update on the progress of his eagerly awaited project.

Parker has confirmed his fifth studio album is “half way done”, adding that he's deeply proud of the new material and that he'd “put these songs up against anything I’ve ever written”.

Although there's no official word on when the record will be made available just yet, it seems the ‘Burn It Down’ chart-topper is - excitingly - eyeing up a late 2024 release date.

Fans are hoping the Texas singer-songwriter includes previously teased unreleased songs such as ‘Big Ol’ Fancy House’, ‘I Don't Want To Be A Cowboy Tonight’ and ‘As Far As I Can Tell’ when it comes to putting together the tracklist for the new album.

In his February interview with Holler, Parker touched on how he's returning to the sound of his much-loved independent records, The Limestone Kid and Probably Wrong.

Judging by his new post on X, he's been relishing the chance to return to his roots and once again explore the aesthetic of his early albums with fresh eyes, with Parker underlining how excited he is about this recently recorded material, “Sitting in the studio right now. Half way done with this new album. I’d put these songs up against anything I’ve ever written. Very proud of them. Hope you guys will love them”.

With Parker McCollum currently in the middle of his momentous Burn It Down tour, with dates lined up in Connecticut, New Jersey and more, it seems he's having to find time to hit the studio in-between spells out on the road. Parker has his first child on the way, too, so it's safe to say it's a busy period for the ‘Pretty Heart’ hitmaker.
