Parker McCollum has taken to X (formerly Twitter), to hint that Post Malone might record his fan-favourite unreleased song, ‘Left Me In Your Mind’, for his debut country album.

Parker first teased the stripped-back, sinuous ballad back in 2021 during an Instagram live-stream, and follows have been calling for the ‘Burn It Down’ singer-songwriter to make the track available ever since - but sadly, so far, to no avail.

However, now, it thankfully seems like the beautifully intricate, heartbroken track will see the light of day - only not with Parker McCollum as the lead vocalist. In response to a fan asking him for the umpteenth time whether he'll be including ‘Left Me In Your Mind’ on his new album, which he started recording in March 2024, the ‘Pretty Heart’ hitmaker revealed that he's been informed his fellow Texan, Post Malone, is planning on cutting it for his upcoming project.

After the fan optimistically wrote, “Please tell me Left me in your mind is going to be on this new album, Lie to me parker”, the multi-Platinum crooner replied, “No but somebody told me post Malone is going to record it so hopefully he does”.

Although Parker McCollum's distinctive, charismatic vocals align perfectly with the sparse, drawn-in feel of ‘Left Me In Your Mind’, we're excited to hear what kind of ambience Post Malone will give the track, should he decide to record it.

It's not yet clear who told Parker McCollum that Post Malone has plans for ‘Left Me In Your Mind’, but it seems likely that Parker offered the track up for other artists to consider cutting, and Posty subsequently put the song on hold this year.

This might just mean he's still weighing it up as a potential inclusion on his debut country album - but if there's even a glimmer of possibility that ‘Left Me In Your Mind’ will at long last be released, then we'll be keeping our fingers crossed it comes to fruition. In an ideal world, Post Malone will invite Parker McCollum to duet with him on the forlorn ballad, with Posty's atmospheric delivery and Parker's enchanting, laidback vocals sure to be an incredible combination.
