Taking to the stage on a swelteringly hot Saturday afternoon, Sheryl Crow drew an eager crowd of all ages at the 2023 edition of Kentucky's Railbird Festival.
But the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee didn't let the heat hold back her set in the slightest, proving exactly why she's earned her spot with a set that offered a mix of her classic hits and newer material.
Gliding about the stage clad in black and silver striped shiny trousers and 70s-style sunglasses, Crow kicked things off with 'If It Makes You Happy', clearly lapping up the sunshine and enjoying her adoring fans, who all sang along in joyful, arm-waving union.
As she worked through more of her hits, Crow exuded effortless cool and artistic skill. Her singing, which at times was reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt's raspy blues, was immaculate, still offering the same sassy fun as ever, particularly in fan-favourite 'All I Wanna Do'. "This ain't no country club, it ain't no disco either. This is Railbird", she delivered to the cheering crowd.
Next up Crow invited the members of Lucius to join her on stage for a dazzling rendition of 'Strong Enough'. Lucius had just performed their own set on the Elkhorn Stage, but were more than welcome back in the limelight with Crow, the crowd offering an ever-warm reception.
Railbird took pride in booking an eclectic line-up, and Crow's slot was a perfect part of it. Sunny, joyous and musically top-tier, the performance was the ideal Saturday afternoon slice of fun - in true Sheryl style.
