As we started to feel the sun on our face and Summer began to knock a little more impatiently on Spring's door, Zac Brown Band announced they'd be releasing the perfect beachside, laid-back anthem on Friday, June 6th 2025 - ‘I Ain't Worried About It’.
Everything you need to know about this infectiously uplifting offering is in the title, with Zac Brown and his crew assuring you that you don't need to sweat the small stuff in life. Just kick back, relax and throw on some good ol’ country music on the speakers.
It continues the country veterans’ strong track record of summer-ready, Jimmy Buffett-inspired earworms, such as ‘Toes’, ‘Knee Deep’, ‘Same Boat’ and ‘Two Blue Chairs & You’.
Every element of ‘I Ain't Worried About It’ - from the playful, rhythmic instrumental to the light-hearted lyricism and breezy hook - feels as though it's been infused with as much joy and joviality as possible. The sleek, enchanting harmonies we've come to expect from Zac Brown Band are on full display for the chorus, with ‘I Ain't Worried About It’ underpinned by a wonderfully simple yet addictive structure.
“People keep trying to tell me
How to live and I'm just
Over here, runnin’ out of
Fucks to give
I ain't worried about it
I ain't worried about it”
Zac Brown establishes the refreshingly blithe, untroubled tone of ‘I Ain't Worried About It’ from the outset, with the ‘Chicken Fried’ crooner kicking off the track by outlining that everyone seems to think they know what's best for him. He's decided, however, that he's no longer going to listen to his detractors, and he's going to live his life his own way - because, guess what? He ain't worried about it.
“Your TV’s lying cause the
World ain't on fire and the
Only thing burning gets me
Higher higher higher
I ain't worried about it
I ain't worried about it”
The protagonist encourages listeners not to get lost in the abyss of negativity that filters nefariously through our phones and TV screens. When the narrator soothingly remarks that the “world ain't on fire”, he's not making a literal point about global warming, rather, he's just underlining that things are never as bad as we think.
It's long been proven that humans have a negativity bias, and that - for some reason - we're drawn to bad news over good news, which is why controversial, infuriating and depressing storylines often get prioritised over all the good deeds being carried out. Zac is reminding us that there is plenty of happiness, joy and kindness out there, even if there isn't a spotlight being shone on this in the same way.
“Ohh this life is really whatever you make it
There’s so much good in the world for the taking
Just take a look at the sky up above
All that matters is love love love love love”
Here, Zac Brown highlights the importance of perspective in determining whether we see the world with a glass-half-full or a glass-half-empty. This mentality brings to mind the title of Zac Brown Band's second album, You Get What You Give.
The protagonist then delivers the cornerstone of ‘I Ain't Worried About It’, serving up their mission statement and cri-de-coeur, “All that matters is love love love love love”.
“Everyone’s gunning for that
Milk and honey and
Some folks are so broke
All they got is money
I ain't worried about it
I ain't worried about it”
The “Land of Milk and Honey” comes from the Book of Exodus in the Old Testament, and conveys a sense of aspiring towards and yearning for a place where the grass is greener. Zac Brown then drops an absolute gem of a punchline, as he dismisses the imbalanced importance we place on financial gain in the West, singing playfully, “Some folks are so broke / All they got is money”. The idea that an over-infatuation with money can be dangerous and lead us away from the true purpose of life is a recurring theme throughout Zac Brown Band's discography.
“It’s been so good to be here
With all our people and the
Show is ending but the party never ends
But I‘ma see you all again”
Zac Brown then sings to the listener as if they're in the audience of one of the band's electrifying, euphoric live concerts. Brown admits the show is coming to a close - but don't fret, for “the party never ends”, implying that just because this particular event is ending, the constant ‘party’ that is day-to-day life goes on and on.
“People keep trying to tell me
How to live and I'm just
Over here, runnin’ out of
