The Grand Ole Opry is peppered with magical moments all year long, but none so much as during the month of October.
Although the first official Opry show was held on November 28, 1925, the longest-running tradition in country music celebrates its birthday each year in October, offering up a collection of special programming and shows to honor its nearly 100 years of history.
This year, as the venue rings in its 99th trip around the sun, the Opry will host a three-day "Birthday Weekend" from October 11-13. Kicking off with two traditional Opry shows, featuring acts like Chapel Hart, Rhett Akins, Crystal Gayle, Riley Green and more, it'll all conclude with the annual Opry Community Day on October 13. With live music, food and drinks and plenty of family fun, patrons will also be able to take a free guided backstage tour of the iconic building by presenting a valid Tennessee ID.
Throughout the month, audiences will also be able to see fresh acts like Tigirlily Gold, Graham Barham, Jackson Dean, Tyler Halverson, Alana Springsteen, Tyler Braden and more. Similarly, the Opry will showcase some of the genre's best and brightest, including Chris Janson, Lauren Alaina, Scotty McCreery, Dustin Lynch, Charles Esten and others.
The Opry's celebrated stalwarts will also be on hand throughout various shows, including The Isaacs, Charlie McCoy, Connie Smith, Dailey & Vincent, Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, Mandy Barnett, The Gatlin Brothers, among others.
Besides the always wonderful Grand Ole Opry shows, the hallowed venue will also play host to a few additional shows during October, including the live taping of Little Big Town's Christmas at the Opry on October 4, which will find the award-winning quartet sharing their favorite holiday tunes on the hallowed stage.
Additionally, the 10th Annual Josie Music Awards will also be taking over the Opry on October 27.
