Kane Brown - ‘2 Pair’

Official Release Date: June 13th, 2025

Album: TBC

The Background:

Well, if Kane Brown doesn't already have a sponsorship deal with Lucchese, then he darn well should after this song. ‘2 Pair’ is a lively, name-dropping ode to the boot brand, with Brown playfully dismissing the idea that he should settle for just one set.

Teased extensively across his socials in the lead-up to its release, ‘2 Pair’ arrives less than six months after his lauded new album, The High Road, ensuring the momentum remains high as the country maverick gears up for his tour of the same name.

When chatting to Holler ahead of the arrival of The High Road, Brown revealed that he already had another album up his sleeve, with ‘2 Pair’ seemingly serving as the lead single.

The Sound:

Kane Brown has become synonymous with his ability to flit between genres such as country, Hip Hop and EDM with ease, and ‘2 Pair’ epitomises this, with the ‘Backseat Driver’ singer-songwriter eschewing the traditional-leaning spirit of ‘Like I Love Country Music’ and ‘Fiddle in the Band’ in favour of a more beat-driven, trap feel.

The verses carry a sparse arrangement that consists primarily of Kane Brown's charismatic vocals, alongside a simple drum pattern, before the galvanising, uptempo guitars enter the fray for the infectious hook. Brown's delivery showcases his light-hearted side, and we think ‘2 Pair’ will be a stellar addition to his live setlist.

The Meaning:

“Hey, I like the snakeskin, I like them Buckaroos
I like my leather shined up with a shade of blue
I like the black cherry alligator pointed toe
I wear 'em out till there's holes on the outsole”

Kane Brown begins by listing some of his favourite kinds of Lucchese cowboy boots, ranging from the swaggering snakeskin to the classy Buckaroos and everything in-between. He reveals he loves wearing them so much, they end up riddled with holes.

“They go with everything, I take 'em everywhere
Lil' mama came with a man, but she still starin'
Damn, I probably don't need no more
But the second I walk through the door, I tell 'em”

The ‘Heaven’ chart-topper continues the message of the first verse by outlining how, no matter where life takes him, he always carries a pair of Luccheses with him.

As he heads out for the day, he finds himself in a relatable situation as he wonders if he really needs to purchase anymore, despite desperately wanting to. Once he's walked through the doors of the Lucchese store, however, his doubts evaporate and he's ready to make a purchase of not one, but two pairs of brand new boots.

“Give me two pairs of Luccheses
All-white shirt and some bootcut jeans
I'll go all night, stomping to the beat
I just got a check, blew it all on my feet like
Ooh, ooh
Ain't shit you can tell me, I feel like Nelly
Give me two pairs of Luccheses
All-white shirt and some bootcut jeans, yeah”

Despite the sonic arrangement carrying a Hip Hop-infused feel, the lyrics are unquestionably country, with Kane Brown joking that he's about to blow his whole paycheck in this store. He quips that he feels as stylish as Nelly, with the official Lucchese Instagram account even resharing this lyric alongside a video of some new boots, cheekily captioned, “We got you @kanebrown ! @nelly , we’ve got you too!”

“Hey, I need some for work, I need some for church
I need some for getting down dirty in the dirt
So I'll take them Badlands, I'll take them High Plains
The way they sitting, buddy, you can tell they handmade”

After he's decided he's going to buy two sets of boots, Kane Brown then attempts to justify his need for them, emphasising that he'll be wearing them for a range of occasions. Whether he's going to work, church or a hoe-down in the dirt, he'll need some Luccheses. Brown then name-checks a couple more beloved Lucchese styles, Badlands and High Plains, before gushing about their undeniable quality.
