Chris Stapleton produced a stellar performance of ‘Higher Ground’ at the 65th Annual Grammys 2023.

The ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ hitmaker performed at the ceremony as part of a blockbuster, Avengers-style union with Stevie Wonder.

With Stevie Wonder sat at the piano and Stapleton taking the lead with this trademark guitar and cowboy hat, the duo delivered one of the most celebrated performances of the evening.

Their rendition of ‘Higher Ground’ fired up the Grammy audience, and came as part of a Motown medley, which also featured an appearance from the legendary Smokey Robinson.

Although Stapleton did not receive any nods for this year's awards as a solo artist, a track that he penned with Rodney Crowell, Willie Nelson's ‘I'll Love You Till The Day I Die’, was nominated for Best Country Song.

The Kentucky native has picked up his fair share of Grammys throughout his illustrious career, with Stapleton currently having eight awards to his name, including three Best Country Album accolades for Traveller, From A Room: Volume 1 and Starting Over.

Viewers praised the Grammy organisers for putting such a unique blend of incredible voices together during Chris Stapleton, Stevie Wonder and Smokey Robinson's set on Sunday.

Brandi Carlile also took to the Grammy stage for a high-energy performance, while Luke Combs delivered a touching, stripped-back rendition of his hit single, ‘Going, Going, Gone’.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards 2023 are airing live on Sunday, February 5 via CBS and Paramount+.
