Serial collaborators Avery Anna and Sam Barber have again joined forces for a touching cover of Thelma & James’ viral duet, ‘Happy Ever After You’, which dropped earlier in January.
As is the case on their two duets to date, ‘Restless Mind’ and ’Indigo’, the latter of which has exploded in popularity in recent months, Anna and Barber's vocals complement each other seamlessly. The duo's endearing friendship radiates throughout the stripped-back cover, with the artists stepping into the shoes of two protagonists that tip-toe around their lingering love in the aftermath of a break-up.
‘Happy Ever After You’ is the debut single from Thelma & James, comprising country-pop hitmaker MacKenzie Porter and folk-leaning crooner Jake Etheridge, with the newly formed husband-and-wife duo amassing a quickly burgeoning following.
Endearingly, Porter has shared her approval in the comments section of Avery Anna and Sam Barber's new video, gushing, “Omgosh I’m obsessed!!! Yall sound insane 🔥🔥🔥”.
When Thelma & James shared a snippet of their evocative unreleased track, ‘First Love’, on January 17th, Avery Anna expressed her admiration for MacKenzie Porter and Jake Etheridge, heartwarmingly donning herself “Thelma & James’s biggest fan”.
Excitingly, it seems we have some more original music from Avery Anna and Sam Barber to look forward to, with Anna taking to TikTok to upload an acoustic clip of an unreleased track.
It doesn't appear to have a title just yet, but it follows the ‘vanilla’ singer-songwriter's Instagram post hinting that she was working with Barber on more music in early January.
The Arizona native is currently honing her eagerly anticipated Breakup Over Breakfast follow-up album. Given the fact that Avery Anna and Sam Barber are continuing to write together following the success of last year's ‘Restless Mind’ and ’Indigo’, we suspect - and hope - the duo might even be readying a full collaborative album.
