Rissi Palmer is set to host a discussion with Maren Morris, Cam and Andrea Williams on February 14th across Apple Music Country.
Palmer will discuss with the group why they are so passionate about shifting the culture of Country music and how they propose to do it.
The discussion will take place on Palmer’s Apple Music radio show, ‘Color Me Country’ at 7pm EST on Sunday February 14th.
In a snippet posted on Palmers twitter page, Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Cam can be heard saying “Country music has been continually defined as white men’s music. The story isn’t just that black women don’t get a shot and everybody else does, there are varying degrees of ‘we’re not going to let you in".
Palmer made her debut back in 2007 with the song ‘Country Girl’, which charted on the Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first African American woman to chart a Country song since Dona Mason in 1987.
Palmer has been presenting ‘Color Me Country’ on Apple Music since the end of August last year.
The show aims to “bring to the forefront the Black, Indigenous and Latin histories of country music, that for too long have lived outside the spotlight and off the mainstream airwaves”.
