When Priscilla Block goes out on the stage, she leaves it all on there.

She’s been playfully working through her thoughts and feelings in her songs ever since she put out her first EP in 2017. After all, there was a reason it was called Different Route; Block has defiantly forged her own path through country music to get where she is today.

Her brutally honest songs reveal her sometimes heartbreaking and often hilarious madcap adventures in country music, as she parties out all her insecurities and anxieties about modern life, relationships and dating.

“I was 17 when I moved to Nashville”, she tells the crowd in the London o2 Arena, most of whom had made sure to get in early to catch her set. “I started writing songs when I was 15, and I just fell in love with songwriting. It was kind of my way just to write my feelings. Some people like writing diaries. I was writing songs, and I got to write with some of the best songwriters in the world. It's incredible when you land in those rooms".

"It's nothing that I ever take for granted", Block continued. "But one thing that I do love so much today and every day is just picking up my guitar, just me and my guitar, and writing whatever's happening in my life, whether it's two in the morning and I'm drunk, or it's two in the afternoon, and maybe I wish I was drunk”.

The hi-vis Block Party jackets on the front row say it all; this might be a party but beware, somebody could get seriously hurt.

“I called up my girlfriends one night”, she explains, introducing ‘Me Pt. 2’. “I was going through quite some breakup, and I was like, ‘Hey, we're going to go to the bar tonight and I'm getting drunk, and I'm moving on’. So we go to the bar, and before long, I am getting escorted out of this bar. So I hop into an Uber, and I'm in the back of the Uber, and as I'm heading home, I pass my ex-boyfriend, and he's with his new girlfriend and my heart hit the floor”.

“I had to do a double take with this girl,” she says laughing. “I thought, ‘You had to go find somebody that looked just like me. How rude’. I was so sad, and I just remember thinking, ‘What does she have that I don't?’ That’s a really, really sad place to be in, mentally. So I picked up my guitar at two in the morning, and I wrote this”.

She follows up a teary ‘Me Pt. 2’ with a trip down memory lane to the days when she played cover songs in bars in Nashville for hours and hours, night after night, dipping into her tip jar songbook for a run through Keith Urban’s ‘You’ll Think Of Me’.

“Y'all are just the best listeners ever”, Priscilla Block told the packed o2 Arena, as she came to the end of the song. “Do you know that?” she laughed. “I think you do. But it's cool when I can just share stories of why I write songs and the whole inspiration behind them. Is it cool if I stay up here just a little bit longer with y'all?”

If it was up to us, Priscilla Block would have stayed up there all night.
