Lady A have been invited to become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry.

The trio - who have been writing and performing together since 2006 - were officially invited, with immediate effect, by friend and fellow artist Darius Rucker.

The group were filming their performance for the NBC Special, ‘Grand Ole Opry: 95 Years of Country Music’ when Rucker came on stage, under the guise of introducing his friends performance, to deliver the news.

Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood were amazed by the gesture, whilst Hillary Scott burst into tears. “I’ve been coming here since I was a little girl, so to say we are honoured is an understatement. We are so truly grateful to officially be a part of this amazing family”.

Lady A, formerly known as Lady Antebellum, have just claimed their eleventh number 1 of their career when ‘Champagne Nights’ topped the charts earlier this month.

The trio made their Opry debut on November 2nd 2007, before going on to sell more than 18 million records worldwide and winning 7 Grammy Awards in the process.

Fans will be able to watch the heartwarming moment and the full performance which ensued on February 14 at 9pm ET / 10pm CT.
