Garth Brooks has confirmed that there is new Chris Gaines material on the way.
In 1999, Brooks released an album in character as the fictional rock star Chris Gaines. Brooks was due to play the role of Gaines in the upcoming film called ‘The Lamb’.
However, to introduce the character to the public, he released an album under the moniker a full year before the film was due to be released.
The record flopped commercially and the film was ultimately scrapped.
Now, Brooks has revealed plans to reissue the record, adding previously unreleased bonus material. He also confirmed it would be available in “every format you can possibly imagine”.
In the same update, Brooks announced he’s been writing songs with Ashley McBryde.
Brooks has been a fan of McBryde’s music for a while, having released a reworked version of ‘Girl Going Nowhere’ for his album ‘The Anthology, Part III: Live’.
In the video update, he said of McBryde “She was tearing it up today, Me and Mitch Rossell just kind of sat and watched her”.
He described the song they had been working on as "Stone Country".
