Born and raised in Alabama, Tiera Kennedy mines the soundbed of the South for the steamy 'Keep Your Promises' ahead of the release of her debut album, Rooted, tomorrow.

"You don’t keep your promises so keep your promises to yourself," she sings, unapologetically taking an ex-lover to task for not showing her the respect she deserves. A sultry slice of Southern Gothic melodrama laced with a playfully dark sense of humour, the song typifies her blend of stadium sized country pop with a twist of R&B and full-blooded country soul.

A sweet southern charmer with the pipes of an imperious Las Vegas diva, Tiera Kennedy has Carrie Underwood's gift for delivering vengeance with unruffled disdain and it is glorious to behold.

"Remember that time you said that you would be home by nine / I waited for you till midnight then I went to bed alone," she sings. "Baby that’s just one of the let me down things that you’ve done / There ain’t nothing you can say to make me wanna stay."

Good riddance to bad rubbish! Tiera Kennedy is a modern country queen and she deserves better than that.

Listen to 'Keep Your Promises' below.

Taken from Tiera Kennedy's debut record Rooted coming out on 18th October, the single follows previous tasters 'Can't Help My Country,' 'I Ain't A Cowgirl' and 'Cry,' which samples the Timbaland produced Justin Timberlake mega-hit 'Cry Me A River.'

“I’ve always had hints of other genres in my music and at times felt apprehensive about that because I felt this pressure to not color too much out of the country music lines,” Tiera Kennedy says of her genre-blending approach to country music. She was also a featured collaborator on Beyoncè’s Cowboy Carter album. Having the honor of singing the poignant line on 'Blackbiird,' “take these broken wings and learn to fly" and as the host of Apple Music Country’s, The Tiera Show, Tiera Kennedy puts her stamp on the genre daily.
