Dylan Gossett has shared his new song, ‘Bitter Winds’, which finds the fast-emerging artist crooning wistfully about his need to find a simpler, slower rhythm of life.
The track continues the sparse composition of Gossett's debut EP, No Better Time, which arrived in October 2023, with ‘Bitter Winds’ opening with the Texas singer-songwriter's drawn-in vocals accompanied by a noodling, peaceful acoustic guitar.
As he launches into the emphatic chorus, Dylan Gossett ups the ante as he cries out for relief from the overwhelming pace he's having to maintain, with the singer-songwriter injecting newfound intensity into his delivery as the instrumental swells in tandem.
Dylan Gossett treated attendees to live performances of ‘Bitter Winds’ during his recent run of Australian shows in support of his fellow folk-leaning songsmith, Noah Kahan, an artist that Gossett revealed to Holler would be a dream collaboration for him.
Fans have been calling for the up-and-coming Big Loud signee to release the track for weeks, and it's safe to say this newly unveiled studio version has met their expectations.
It's another showcase of how Dylan Gossett expertly navigates both the emotional and sonic ebbs and flows throughout his catalogue, with ‘Bitter Winds’ no doubt whetting ticket-holders’ appetites ahead of his 2024 No Better Time tour.

“Leaves turnin' brown, it's down to 54
Cold is moving into Texas and it's moving out the warm
These bitter winds, comin' soon again
Chapped lips asking for tips, tryna find more love to lend
And family ties, are moving closer in
Find the time to hear the chimes of a wedding once again
I need it bad, more than I did before
To feel the warmth of a fire and a woman that I adore
Can this all please slow down
Another year is burning out
The sun don't wait for someone like me
Who's got more wants than needs
So I'll sit still as seasons move on
Though I hate to watch 'em leave
I hate to watch 'em leave
I see your breath while I'm holding mine
Your face lit up by the moon, my face lit up by your eyes
I'm singing songs, the family sings along
With my feet buried in the gravel, my heart buried in my wrongs
Can this all just please slow down
Another year is burning out
The sun don't wait for someone like me
Who's got more wants than needs
So I'll sit still as seasons move on
Though I hate to watch 'em leave
I hate to watch 'em leave
It won't be long, today will carry on
Til' tomorrow is the past, the future is long gone
Can this all just please slow down
Another year is burning out
The sun don't wait for someone like me
Who's got more wants than needs
So I'll sit still as seasons move on
Though I hate to watch 'em leave
Hate to watch 'em leave”
