Queen Bey is certainly no stranger to No. 1s, but the pop culture sensation just earned her first in the country genre.

Beyoncé's recently unveiled ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ is currently reigning at the top of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, making her the first Black female artist to top such a ranking. The song is also in the lead position on six other charts, including the Hot 100, Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Hot Gospel Songs, Hot Latin Songs, Hot R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts.

The jaunty anthem arrived alongside another country-fied single, ‘16 Carriages’, following an ad teaser aired during the Super Bowl LVIII on February 11. The latter track is steadily climbing up the Hot Country Songs chart as well, currently sitting at No. 9.

Many fans have celebrated the ‘Crazy In Love’ star’s venture into the genre, but when it came to country radio airplay, the songs faced some challenges early on. While only a handful of stations would play ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ following its initial release, when Bey officially sent the tracks to country radio on February 20, the songs skyrocketed up the airplay charts.

‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ and ‘16 Carriages’ are expected to be a part of Beyoncé’s upcoming Renaissance Act II, the follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2022 Renaissance LP.
