Amanda Shires has unveiled a brand new album, Loving You, which is due to be released on June 23. Shires’ latest project was recorded in collaboration with Bobbie Nelson before she passed away in March 2022.

To celebrate the announcement of Loving You, Amanda Shires has released the lead single from the record, ‘Summertime’, which features both Bobbie Nelson and her brother, Willie Nelson.

Bobbie Nelson's piano-playing was one of her most revered musical qualities, and her distinctive performance can be heard throughout Amanda Shires’ new record, which serves as a tribute to the Texas native.

Making the release all the more special is the appearance of Willie Nelson on ‘Summertime’. Willie and Bobbie Nelson recorded their own cover of Gershwin's ‘Summertime’ as part of Willie's Grammy-winning Summertime: Willie Nelson Sings Gershwin.

Amanda Shires and Bobbie Nelson's new album will also feature ‘Loving You’, which was penned by Bobbie, along with a variety of songs that both artists have loved and covered for many years.

Speaking about the inspiration for the new album, Amanda Shires underlined just how great an influence Bobbie Nelson has been on her own life and music, “I first saw Bobbie playing when I was 16 or so at some festival somewhere in Texas where I grew up. I saw her perform many times over the years and always admired the way she played so effortlessly and with so much strength and confidence. She radiated music. Much of my path seemed possible because I saw a woman working and making a career of music at a young age, and that woman was Bobbie Nelson”.
