  • Song Thinking 'bout You
  • Lyrics
Everybody wants ya' and it makes me roll my eyes
When we go out dancing, but just as friends, right?
And you whisper in my ear after one or two

Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to...

The Background:

Right out of the gate, the up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Stella Lefty, released what already has the potential to be a song of the year.

On Jan. 2, 2026, the burgeoning star unleashed her 'Thinking 'bout You' onto the world. Ever since, the breezy y'allt-pop number has been sitting pretty amongst the New Year's viral songs, the tune an easy earworm and an exciting introduction of a ready-made star.

With its infectious sound and intoxicating hooks, 'Thinking 'bout You' is poised to take over Q1 and launch Lefty into hitmaker territory.

The Sound:

Like all great twangy pop tunes, 'Thinking 'bout You' keeps it simple. Uncomplicated riffs and a foot-tapping beat form the backbone of this loved-up ditty. Come the chorus, brilliant steel and a fleshed-out rhythm texture the tune further, but the composition never strays far from those bare-boned strings and that pulsating tempo. The song stays light and effervescent throughout, perfectly mirroring the weightless feelings of new affections.

The Meaning:

"Everybody wants ya' and it makes me roll my eyes
When we go out dancing, but just as friends, right?
And you whisper in my ear after one or two"

On 'Thinking 'bout You', listeners meet Stella Lefty just as she's pulled into the undertow of infatuation.

She's out on the town with someone intoxicating, someone who also draws the attentions of everyone else in the room. This fact gets under her skin and she seems, at first, resistant to this attraction, until the object of her affection whispers in her ear. Then, it's all over.

"Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to
And you know I-I don't wanna complicate it
But in my head we're in the back of the room
Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you
Thinking 'bout you"

Suddenly, her crush is everywhere, their touch imprinted on her skin, their memory taking up permanent residence in her mind. She's trying to play it cool, but she just can't help it. This person occupies her brain and makes it difficult to think of anything or anyone else.

Throughout the song, there are scenes of the two of them leaving a crowded room and going home together. She insists she doesn't want to rush anything, singing: "Don't know how we got here, don't know when you called the car / Asking if I need a ride, don't wanna go too far / But it doesn't sound so bad to me after one or two."

Listeners aren't privy to what unfolds next, but the artist seems to be guarding herself, only allowing her potential lover to remain safely in the confines of her mind. In the song, she sings: "I don't want to be some other girl in your bed / So, I'll leave you here in my head."

"Can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to
And you know I-I don't wanna complicate it
Maybe one day we'll end in the back of your room
But damn, until we do, can't help but thinking 'bout you
Thinking 'bout, 'bout you, 'bout you"

Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to
And you know I-I don't wanna complicate it
But in my head we're in the back of the room
Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you
Thinking 'bout you

Don't know how we got here, don't know when you called the car
Asking if I need a ride, don't wanna go too far
But it doesn't sound so bad to me after one or two

I don't know what to do, can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to
And you know I-I don't wanna complicate it
But in my head we're in the back of the room
Swear I'm not trying to, can't help but thinking 'bout you

And your tattoos on me
Put my name right there on your chest
But I don't want to be some other girl in your bed
So, I'll leave you here in my head

Can't help but thinking 'bout you
And your hands on my, my body says I want to
And you know I-I don't wanna complicate it
Maybe one day we'll end in the back of your room
But damn, until we do, can't help but thinking 'bout you
Thinking 'bout, 'bout you, 'bout you
