The Background:

Christmas season may be long gone, but Jason Aldean is still in a generous mood, with the ‘Burnin’ It Down’ hitmaker dropping a three-pack of new songs on January 9th, 2026.

Alongside ’Her Favorite Color’ and ‘What's A Little Heartache’, Aldean has shared his long-awaited debut duet with his wife, Brittany, ‘Easier Gone’, as part of this trio of releases. The husband-and-wife duo teased the heartwarming collaboration on socials in the weeks leading up to its arrival, with ‘Easier Gone’ shaping up to be one of the biggest tracks from Aldean's, new studio album, Songs About Us.

The Sound:

‘Easier Gone’ is a classic country power ballad, with Jason and Brittany's vocals combining seamlessly across a galvanising sea of electric guitars and a thunderous drum pattern. Jason's commanding vocals kick off the track with the pared-down instrumental, with the song building in intensity as the stellar hook approaches.

Brittany undoubtedly holds her own throughout, particularly when she takes the helm for the second verse and the bridge, with ‘Easier Gone’ sure to leave fans hoping this isn't the last time we get to hear the husband-and-wife pairing sing together.

The Meaning:

‘Easier Gone’ follows a protagonist who is struggling to get over a break-up, with Jason wishing he could go back to a time before he'd met his ex, so he wouldn't know the pain of missing her. The introduction of Brittany's second perspective gives the song a fascinating new dimension, as it means ‘Easier Gone’ plays like two broken-up lovers who are yearning to fall back into each other's arms.

The narrative takes place in a dive bar, in which Jason is happily drinking alone, as he works to get over his ex. Then, however, his old flame walks in, and as he comes face-to-face with her, he laments how good she looks and how irresistible he finds her. As she flirts with another man, the pain only grows more acute.

What have Jason Aldean and Brittany Aldean said about ‘Easier Gone’?

In an interview with Nashville Lifestyles ahead of the song's arrival, Jason explained how the unique collaboration with his wife came about, “Britt and I have been wanting to do something together for a while, but it’s like with anything, I just think it has to be the right song”, adding, “She started to get nervous and sweaty”.

The ‘Big Green Tractor’ crooner adds that Brittany ended up taking the unexpected invitation in her stride, “It was weird because she’s never been to the studio or tried to cut a record or anything like that. The first day was her learning how it all goes. Then she went back in, knew what to expect, and just killed it”.

“I wish I didn't know your name
Wish you were just another stranger
So you walkin' in this bar wouldn't put my broken heart
In danger
-
I wish I didn't know your drink
(Know my drink)
Was the one that he just bought you
(He just bought me)
Everything I tried forgettin' came rushing back the second
I saw you
-
You were easier gone
You were easier outta this town
Hey, I almost had this lettin' you go thing figured out
Yeah, it was easy to lie
To myself on a Friday night
When I wasn't face to face with how good you look moving on
Yeah, you were easier gone
-
Why'd you have to turn that car around?
Turn that car around
Why'd you have to come and crash my party?
Crash your party
Throwin' happy in my face, smilin' like you ain't
Even sorry
-
Baby, you were easier gone
You were easier outta this town
Hey, I almost had this lettin' you go thing figured out
Yeah, it was easy to lie
To myself on a Friday night
When I wasn't face to face with how good you look moving on
Yeah, you were easier gone
Easier gone
-
Safer as a memory, better on the run
Your eyes were cutting through me, messin' me back up
Baby, would it kill you to go back wherever you came from?
-
'Cause you were easier gone
Easier outta this town
Hey, I almost had this lettin' you go thing figured out
Yeah, it was easy to lie
To myself on a Friday night
When I wasn't face to face with how good you look moving on
Yeah, you were easier gone
Easier gone”
