Whether it’s a song about drinking to celebrate, looking to alcohol to help mend a broken heart or just popping the top on a cold one to relax on the boat, there’s no doubt that the lyrics of country music have their fair share of mentions of alcohol.
Be it wine, tequila, whiskey or other liquor, it’s no surprise that so many of country music’s most popular artists have flexed their entrepreneurial muscles in creating their own special alcohol products.
From the design and branding to the specific flavors and tasting notes, the biggest names in the genre have made sure to incorporate themselves into their favorite signature wines and spirits.
Here is Holler's list of some of the country artists who have made their mark with their own alcohol brands.
Kenny Chesney is known for bringing the laid-back island vibes to country music and he delivers that same island feeling with his Blue Chair Bay Rum. With flavors including coconut, key lime, mango, pineapple and more, Chesney’s rum makes you feel like you’re on vacation no matter where you are.
He's the owner and chief creative officer of the brand, and the rum keeps its island authenticity by being produced down in the Caribbean.
The name comes from Chesney’s song 'OId Blue Chair' and the imaginary location of Blue Chair Bay mentioned in the song.
Jack Daniel’s’ Master Distiller Jeff Arnett created a unique limited-edition whiskey as a way to honor Eric Church, who has definitely made his love of the brand known in his music.
Church even has a song named 'Jack Daniels', and in the lyrics for his hit 'Love Your Love The Most' he talks about all of the things he loves in life, including Jack D in his Coke.
Made with caramel and vanilla notes and a finish of toasted oak, this special edition whiskey was made with the Chief’s favorite flavors in mind.
Silverbelly Whiskey is distilled exclusively for country icon Alan Jackson. The name comes from the distinct hue of Jackson’s cowboy hat that he’s rarely seen without: silverbelly.
The whiskey has an aroma of honey, sweet apple, cherry and brown sugar with a smooth taste made up of fall fruits and soft caramelized oak tones and wood spice that is both spicy and sweet.
Different batches are named after Jackson’s iconic songs including, 'Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow', 'Wanted' and 'Here In the Real World'.
Thomas Rhett made his foray into the tequila world a family affair. While his songs about his family usually spotlight his wife and daughters, and the music world knows his legendary musical father, Rhett decided to include more of his family in his work life by jumping into this venture with his cousin.
Aptly named “Dos Primos” – Spanish for cousin – Rhett took on this new adventure with his cousin Jeff Worn. The two cousins’ shared love of tequila and the outdoors inspired them to make a tequila that could be enjoyed while around a bonfire, out fishing, at a tailgate or on a camping trip.
The bottle’s label is inscribed with the words “forged by family”, as they want the tequila to make “anywhere feel like home” and make ”people feel like family” according to Rhett.
The Dos Primos brand currently offers a blanco, reposado and añejo varieties.
The Lambert family created their own winery, Red 55, in 2006, naming it after Miranda Lambert’s first truck, which was a bright red stepside made in 1955.
Located in Lindale, Texas, where Lambert grew up, the winery even has a tasting room called The Pink Pistol.
The line of wines features varieties named after her song titles, including 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend', 'Wildcard', 'Kerosene' and 'White Liar', to name a few.
Country artist Jon Pardi always brings the party, especially when his whiskey is involved. He partnered with Buffalo Chip Spirits out of Tennessee to create Pardi Batch Spirits.
His brand features two varieties, with sweet fruit and caramel notes in Pardi Batch Tennessee Whiskey and notes of butterscotch and caramel, as well as finishes with oak and vanilla in Pardi Batch 112 Bourbon.
Not only does Parker McCollum have a No. 1 hit titled 'To Be Loved By You', he also has a wine by the same name!
The Texas native has an exclusive collaboration with Christeni Vineyards for a special line of 'To Be Loved By You' wines. It comes in several varieties and he also has second wine collaboration with the vineyard called “M”.
For a band with a song called 'Drinkin’ Problem', it’s no shock that the members of Midland wanted to have their hand in a tequila brand. Insólito translated means “rare,” “uncommon” and “extraordinary” and that’s just what their tequila is.
Midland members Jess Carson, Cameron Duddy and Mark Wystrach teamed up with Insólito founder and CEO, Pete Kelly, General Manager Octavio and Master Distiller Alberto Herrara, to create a special tequila. With three varieties reposado, añejo and blanco, the tequila is distilled 7,200 feet above sea level in the Sierra del Tigre Mountains of Jalisco, Mexico.
Named after his song and most recent album Bluebird Days, Jordan Davis collaborated with founder of Bluebird Distilling and master distiller Jared Adkins to create a whiskey to celebrate the perfect “bluebird days” in life.
Merriam-Webster defines a bluebird day as “a day marked by cloudless blue skies” and Davis embodies that feeling of a perfect day in his whiskey.
With the fragrance of baking spice and sweet corn, a palate of marshmallow and vanilla and a finish of a blend of butterscotch, vanilla and toffee, it's made with ingredients that represent life’s sweetest days.
Bluebird Days Whiskey was created to celebrate Davis’ album Bluebird Days.
As the proprietor of Z. Alexander Brown, Zac Brown connects his love of both the land and bringing people together.
The symbol of the owl appears on all of the bottles of his Uncaged wine, as it is said to be a guardian and is connected to a spirit being set free.
Brown’s wine brand values sustainable practices when it comes to making his wine and caring for the land it’s farmed from, which reflects the love of nature that can be heard in his songs.
As a wine lover, Brandi Carlile partnered with her wife Catherine, friends Amy and Jeri Andrews, and winemaker Sean Boyd to make a wine brand that is personal to her. XOBC Cellars includes wines named after her two daughters Evangeline and Elijah and her wife, as well as one named “Crowded Table” after the song with her group The Highwomen. Proceeds from the wine benefit her organization with bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth, The Looking Out Foundation, which “amplifies the impact of music by empowering those without a voice.”
Not only does Kix Brooks of country duo Brooks & Dunn have a wine brand, he even his own vineyard!
Along with John Russell and Kip Summers, Brooks co-owns Arrington Vineyards, which is located just 25 miles south of Nashville in Arrington, TN. The beautiful 95-acre vineyard includes 16 acres of grapevines that are used to make 20% of their wines, and all of their wines are made right onsite at the winery.
If you want to try Kix’s wine but aren’t local, Arrington Vineyards ships out of state and even has a quarterly wine subscription service called “Kix’s Wine Club”.
Jimi, Kimberly, Phillip and Karen of Little Big Town are known for singing about alcohol with their song 'Wine, Beer, Whiskey, so it’s only natural that they’d foray into the beverage industry.
The wine-loving group partnered with their friend Andrew Browne, the proprietor of Browne Family Vineyards in Washington’s Walla Walla Valley, to create Four Cellars Wine.
The wine is available through a wine club and each delivery includes exclusive merchandise selected by the Little Big Town members themselves.
John Rich is best known for his role as one half of the duo Big & Rich, who have had countless hits in country music, but what people may not know is that he also has an entrepreneurial spirit when it comes to his alcohol brand.
Rich has his own whiskey brand, which shares a name with his Broadway bar in Nashville, Redneck Riviera. Rich’s brand centers around patriotism and the hardworking spirit of Americans who know how to work hard, but also play hard.
Country legend Tanya Tucker is known for her wild streak, so it makes perfect sense that she’d partner with Cosa Salvaje Tequila, which in Spanish means “wild thing”.
In addition to partnering with the brand, Tucker has “Tanya’s Tequila Club”, which gives members access to exclusive merchandise, such as t-shirts that feature some of her favorite photos of special life events.
Tucker says she loves to drink the exclusive tequila by adding fresh grapefruit and grapefruit juice to the bottle before serving.
