Festival - Faster Horses

Faster Horses Festival will return to the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan in 2023. This will mark ten years since Faster Horses Festival's inception, with the weekend dates having been confirmed as July 14-16. 

A blockbuster line-up has been unveiled for the 2023 event, with Zac Brown Band, Shania Twain, Luke Bryan, Dustin Lynch, Megan Moroney, Hailey Whitters and more all set to perform.

Also taking the Michigan International Speedway stage is Dwight Yoakam, Billy Currington, Dylan Scott, Blanco Brown, Warren Zeiders, Lauren Watkins, Tenille Townes and more.

40,000 people descended on the speedway stadium for the Live Nation event in 2022, which took place from the 22nd - 24th July. 

Last year, the festival was pressured to prioritise the safety of its attendees following 

 that found 91 assault reports, 30 criminal sexual conduct reports and six deaths have occurred at the festival since it started in 2013.

While on-site, attendees could use a new text line. If they saw anything suspicious or were in need of emergency assistance, they could alert the safety team by texting HORSES to 69050

The line could also used to report any suspicious, dangerous or inappropriate behaviour. It could also be used if somebody’s sick and needs medical help.

“Faster Horses Festival believes everyone should feel safe during the festival,” said an official statement from the festival organisers. “People from all over the world come through our festival every year, but when we’re here, we’re 

. We all have to do our part to be aware and watch out for each other at Faster Horses”.



Holler is awaiting confirmation of the total number of criminal reports to have been made relating to Faster Horses 2022.

But her rise to stardom took some time. Twain, who was born Eileen Regina Edwards, grew up singing and performing around her hometown. After graduating high school, she toured Ontario with a cover band while taking singing lessons in Toronto.

She started getting attention for her singing chops, but her plans were derailed when her parents died in a car accident in 1987 and she moved back home to take care of her siblings.

Once her brothers and sisters were old enough to leave home, Twain put together a demo tape and eventually signed to Mercury Nashville. Her self-titled debut album, Shania Twain, arrived in 1993. 

The attention she’d been getting from American audiences blossomed with the release of her 1995 follow-up The Woman in Me, which featured the hit single ‘Any Man of Mine’. The album has since been certified RIAA diamond. 

Her next album 1997’s Come on Over landed at the number two spot on the Billboard 200, and becoming the best-selling album by a female country artist at the time. Both the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association named her Entertainer of the Year in 1998. 

Two more albums followed, 2002’s Up! and 2017’s Now. Twain has built on the popularity of her music and world tours with two Las Vegas residencies. Her home country has honored her in several ways. In 2011, she was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, while in 2018, the Canadian Country Music Association honored her with its Generation Award, awarded to an artist who has impacted country music in a major way.

Country’s top honor for a female artist goes to Canadian singer Shania Twain, who is the best-selling female country artist.

Like many country artists, Luke Bryan gained his start by writing for other singers. But that early songwriting work helped him land a record deal with Capitol Nashville in 2007. When his debut album I’ll Stay Me arrived that same year, Bryan had co-writing credit on 10 of the album’s 11 tracks. 

Bryan’s hard work has also led to major accolades. In 2010, he won the ACM Award for Top New Artist and Top New Solo Vocalist. Just three years later, in 2013, the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association named him ‘Entertainer of the Year’. 

Bryan opened the restaurant 32 Bridge Food + Drink on Nashville’s Broadway strip, and took that same name, 32 Bridge Entertainment, to start his own record label under Universal Music Group Nashville. 

His seventh studio album Born Here Live Here Die Here was released in 2020.

At the time, the Georgia-based group were considered as country as country could be, with their debut studio album, 

, spawning a slew of platinum singles, including ‘Whatever It is’, ‘Free’ and the beautifully intricate ballad, ‘Highway 20 Ride’. In 2010, the band took home their first Grammy award for Best New Artist.

The tropically-tinged, island-inspired ‘Toes’, another platinum single from 

, paved the way for a collaboration with the king of island-inspired Gulf and Western himself, Jimmy Buffett. ‘Knee Deep’ was a playful ode to the necessary joy of escapism, and swiftly became another multi-platinum hit for Zac Brown Band.

‘Knee Deep’ featured on the group’s 2010 project, 

, which also produced a Grammy-winning collaboration with Alan Jackson, ‘As She’s Walking Away’. 

The song’s airtight harmonies and traditional arrangements epitomised everything that fans loved about Zac Brown Band. 

 would ultimately go on to become Zac Brown Band’s second platinum album, and their first No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Two years later, the band put out their fan-favourite compilation album,

Now, many fans view that album as an epitaph to the Zac Brown Band of old, with the group deciding to pursue a more genre-fluid, pop-leaning sound from that point on.

 was a commercial success, again reaching No. 1 and going platinum. It contained the first hints of experimentation, with ‘Beautiful Drug’ testing out a new, EDM-influenced sound. This was consolidated by the band’s surprise 2015 collaboration with the late DJ, Avicii, on ‘Broken Arrows’.

The Zac Brown Band of 2022 is an entirely different proposition to the old-school Southern Rock band that burst onto the scene in 2008 with their irresistible American anthem, ‘Chicken Fried’.

Over the last few decades, we have learned that country music really is countrywide... or more accurately worldwide. While an overwhelming majority of today's country crop comes by way of the southern region of the U.S., Hailey Whitters has brought a unique flair of midwestern charm to country music since making her first waves in the format in 2020.

Iowa-born and Nashville-based, the rising tunesmith first gained notoriety through her golden pen, notching songwriting credits for the likes of Little Big Town, Marina McBride, Alan Jackson and more. After a decade of grinding it out around town, her breakthrough moment finally came in 2020 with the release of her sophomore album, 

, which found its way onto more than a dozen year-end best of lists. The deluxe edition, 

, saw Whitters commissioning some of her frequent collaborators and friends on five new tracks, including Brent Cobb, Jordan Davis, Trisha Yearwood and Little Big Town, who appeared on the CMT Music Award-winning song 'Fillin' My Cup.'

Following a momentous 2020, the subsequent year took Whitters out on the road with acts like Luke Combs and Midland, as well as saw her notch her first Grammy nomination for Song of the Year for Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile's 'Beautiful Noise,' written by Whitters with Carlile, Keys, Ruby Amanfu, Brandy Clark, Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Linda Perry.

Building off her success thus far, Whitters brought everything to a head in March of 2022 as she released her third album, 

, which features her debut single to country radio, 'Everything She Ain't,' as well as the moody heartbreak departed anthem of 'The Neon' and her ode to the guys who taught her some lessons about love and life on 'Boys Back Home.'

Though still in the beginning stages of what will surely be a lengthy career in the left of country Americana space, Whitters has spent the last few years truly honing in on her craft and her sound, all while growing a dedicated fan base and quite a killer catalog along the way.
