After a top-tier inaugural event last year, the highly-anticipated Sips & Sounds Summer Festival is returning to Austin, Texas from June 29-30.

Before the weekend's end, fesivalgoers will get the chance to enjoy 15 sizzling performances across two stages at the Circuit of The Americas infield.

Presented by Coca-Cola, the two-day event is treating attendees to a country twist in 2024, showcasing a fine collection of the genre's movers and shakers.

Headlining the second-year festival will be country-pop darling Kelsea Ballerini and neotraditional mainstay Jon Pardi. The weekend will also feature exciting appearances from Maren Morris, Marcus King, The War and Treaty and Holler favorite Charles Welsey Godwin, among others.

The inaugural Sips & Sounds Festival was held in 2023, showcasing some of the biggest up-and-coming names in the pop and EDM worlds, including The Chainsmokers, Yungblud, Tate McRae, Gayle and more.

2023's event took shape as a one-day festival at the 6,000-person Moody Amphitheater. This time around it's been expanded to two days and has been moved to the Circuit of the Americas racing track, which can acommodate roughly 9,000.

“We are thrilled to return to Austin, TX – the live music capital of the world – to celebrate summer and togetherness with an exciting lineup of musical performances,” says Derek Alexander, VP of Marketing and Commercial Operations at Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages. “Sips & Sounds Summer Festival is our way to connect with fans of the brand and music lovers alike.”

Offering vibrant activations and experiences, such as the Coca-Cola Ice House and the Coke Studio, Cinemark Theaters will also be hosting a pop-up theater where attendees can immerse themselves in the magic of the movies with cherished snacks.

When Ballerini was just 22 years old, she released her 2015 debut LP The First Time. It featured “Love Me Like You Mean It”, which went on to hit no. 1 on the Country Airplay chart. From there, Ballerini’s star has been set. 

The same year as her debut, she won the Billboard Women in Music Award for Rising Star, the ACM Award for New Female Vocalist of the Year and was nominated for the prestigious Best New Artist category at the Grammys.

Riding those accolades, she followed The First Time with her best-selling album Unapologetically in 2017, refining her hybrid country-pop sound, which favors moving storytelling as much as it does soaring rhythms. 

Her third studio album Kelsea followed in 2019 – the same year she was invited by Little Big Town to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In April, Carrie Underwood inducted her. 

Quick on the heels of Kelsea, Ballerini released her fourth studio album in 2020, titling it after her last name. Ballerini serves as a stripped down companion to Kelsea.

He emerged onto the scene in the early 2010s, when classic country was still largely seen as old hat.

Pardi’s breakthrough 2014 single, ‘Up All Night’, was pop enough to fit into the existing paradigm, while introducing the world to Pardi’s penchant for a more retro, traditional-leaning style.

 saw Pardi hitting his stride, and the project produced a string of prolific singles, such as ‘Heartache on the Dance Floor’, ‘Night Shift’ and ‘Dirt on My Boots’.

Pardi’s increasing prominence was recognised at the 2017 CMA Awards, as he won the coveted New Artist of the Year prize.

Pardi returned emphatically in 2020 with 

- a classic country album-title for a classic country album. The project found Pardi leaning into the party-puns that so often get linked to his last name, with the Californian highlighting that he’s just as good at honouring the neon lights (‘Tied One On’) as he is at capturing the after-hours, tear-in-my-beer melancholy (‘Starlight’).

Arguably Pardi’s most assured record was 2022’s 

, which pivoted around a trademark piece of wordplay (“

”). Alongside his faux-bandmates of Midland, ‘Longneck Way to Go’ epitomised the exuberant, playful representation of heartbreak that Pardi has honed throughout his career. The swaggering single earned 2022 CMA Award nominations for Musical Event of the Year and Music Video of the Year.

The further into his career that Jon Pardi has progressed, the more it feels as though he’s settled into the latter half of his neo-traditionalist sound.

Her dad gave her a guitar when she was 12 and something clicked for the soon-to-be-famous country star. Three years later, in 2005, she released her debut album

through an independent label and followed it with a handful of other projects.

In 2015, Morris used the streaming platform Spotify to grow her following when she released her eponymously titled EP. Of the five songs, one struck big: 'My Church'. It gained 2.5 million streams in a month and caught the eye of major labels. 

Morris ended up signing with Columbia Nashville and re-releasing her EP with the storied label. One year later, she dropped her debut studio album 

. The country-pop album showed off Morris' sultry vocals and big personality.  

She earned critical attention in 2017 when she won New Female Vocalist of the Year at the ACM Awards and New Artist of the Year at the CMAs. Her song 'My Church' also won the Grammy for Best County Solo Performance. 

In 2019, she released her sophomore studio album 

In addition to her solo career, Morris is a member of the supergroup the Highwomen, along with Brandi Carlile, Amanda Shires and Natalie Hemby. They won the Grammy for Best Country Song for their single 'Crowded Table'.

Charles Wesley Godwin’s rustic imagery and traditional-leaning Americana sound has spawned comparisons with contemporaries such as Tyler Childers. While this assessment is an oversimplification, there is a notable similarity in the way that Godwin does not make any attempt to meet the listener where they are; if they want to enjoy the music, they’ll have to follow Godwin on a rocky trail through his Appalachian soundscape and into an entirely unique world full of enchanting characters.

Although he pointedly refuses to pander to mainstream impulses, the palette with which Godwin paints is nonetheless easy on the eye, and proves accessible to cosmic-country die-hards and boyfriend-country flag-bearers alike.

, was met with resounding acclaim, as the West Virginia native crafted a sound that felt expansive and cinematic, while at the same time being lucidly tuned-in to the details and specificities of the subject matter.

The project stood largely as an ode to his Morgantown roots, and Godwin maintained his charmingly grounded sensibilities throughout his follow-up 2021 album, 

. However, his 2021 offering widened the canvas and tested out new territory - both thematically and sonically.

The driving force that underpins Charles Wesley Godwin’s musical mission statement - and what many would argue should be at the heart of all country music - is a love of timeless storytelling. The listener meets a host of bewitching characters throughout Godwin’s discography, from the tragic tale of Claire, the mayor’s daughter, in ‘Cranes of Potter’, to the embattled protagonist of ‘Seneca Creek’.

Godwin continues to bring the soft, Autumnal glow of his warm melodies and wistful lap steel guitar to crowds across the US, having recently finished a hugely successful tour supporting fellow country-folk progressive, Zach Bryan.

Country music, at its core, has always been a menagerie of other genres mixed and swirled together, with a dollop of compelling storytelling plopped right on top.

While some try to confine and contain the genre to a certain list of criteria, there is a wide swathe of artists that seemingly exist to push the boundaries and take country music into places its never been before.

Among that group of trailblazing creatives is The War And Treaty, composed of husband and wife duo of Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter (née Blount).

The powerhouse vocal pairing first appeared in mainstream country music in April of 2021, when they joined Dierks Bentley for a performance of U2's 'Pride (In the Name of Love)' at the 56th ACM Awards, which helped them secure a recording deal with UMG Nashville in May of 2022.

Later that year, they would once again enter country music fans' living rooms as they performed a cover of 'It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It)' alongside Brothers Osborne at the 56th Annual CMA Awards in November, making history as the first Black husband-and-wife duo to grace the CMA stage.

However, their story goes back further than those fateful performances.

The War and Treaty, originally know as Trotter & Blount, formed in Michigan in 2014. The pair met years earlier at a musical festival as Michael, an army veteran who had used music as a source of solace, was performing. They quickly joining forces to work on songs together, and thus, magic ensued.

With an impassioned delivery and fiery conviction, the duo draws on folk, country, R&B, gospel, rock 'n' roll and everything in between, often combining them all into a scrumptious cocktail dripping in talent.

That talent shown brightly on their early independent label releases, including 

. The latter two landed spots on both the 

 Heatseekers and Independent Albums charts, and earned them the Emerging Act of the Year Award from the Americana Music Association.

After signing with UMG Nashville and later winning the Americana Music Association's 2022 Duo/Group of the Year Award, The War and Treaty's talent was elevated even further as they surprise released their debut EP for the label, 

, on the night of their history-making CMA performance.

Expanding it into their 2023 full-length debut, 

, the duo effortlessly straddle the thin line between Americana and country as they explore just under a dozen genre-blending songs about love, its intentions and their many lessons learned throughout their relationship.

Looking to etch their names among the iconic musical partnerships – think Ashford & Simpson, Johnny Cash and June Carter & Sonny and Cher – The War and Treaty also aim to help people feel again, which is a mission that they fulfill without fail.
