Eddy Smith & The 507 have shared a new video for 'The Good Times' today.
Premiering exclusively at Holler, the video was recorded during a session in the warm-looking confines of Buffalo Studio in London, England, and is a raw and intimate take on their soulful sound.
A ruminative and yearning number, the Americana 5-piece are refining their sound as if mining for gold; the gritty, spontaneous nature of the session showing just how captivating they are at their most exposed. That's not to say the textures they mull over aren't welcome - if anything, they embolden the existential narratives that Smith explores, as he pleads for clarity and fulfilment from the good times in life. Notions of faith and gospel-inspired harmonies add a real reverie and wholesomeness to proceedings, but it's the unity between the group that shines brightest - a seamless, unspoken energy burning at their core.
This is a bare and uncompromising performance from the group, showing there's always hope at the end of the tunnel, no matter how long you've been passing through. If this session is anything to go by, Eddy Smith & The 507's forthcoming output will be the perfect soundtrack to our summer of freedom.
