Dating is a dangerous game. It’s like setting off for a nice skip through a flowery meadow, only to find it’s full of landmines. The only way you know they’re even there is when you set one off accidentally. The best that you can hope for is that you make it through to the other side in one piece and that you don’t blow anyone else up along the way.
Of course, dating can also be a lot of fun! Just like skipping through a flowery meadow can be. We’ve all got our ideas of what the perfect date night would be. Maybe it’s a Fortnum and Mason’s picnic hamper and a bottle of Beaujolais nouveau under a starry Parisian sky, or maybe it’s just a cheeky Nando's and couple of Cherry B’s on the night bus home.
All that you can really hope for is that whoever you’re out on a date with likes you enough not to escape through the bathroom window during the starters.
We asked Conner Smith to tell us all about his dream dates.
Where would you go on your perfect date?
As country song cliché it is, there ain’t a better date than a truck bed, dirt road, watching stars in the country.
What are you going to get up to?
Play some music, dance with her, get to know her better.
Describe your dream partner in three words?
Confident, secure, lovesjesus (made that into one word)
Have you ever used a dating app? And how was it?
Haha I have not. I choose to live through my friends stories they have from dating apps instead.
Do you know any good chat up lines?
I keep it classic, not too much of a pick up line guy
What’s the worst date you’ve ever been on?
I went to a Thomas Rhett concert with a girl when I was 16. She broke up with me the next day.
Who’s your country music crush?
Young Shania Twain is unbeatable.
Would you kiss someone on a first date?
Ain’t scared to if the vibe is right
How long do you wait for them to call before you call them?
Usually a text that night telling them you had a great night, then give it a couple days before you call ‘em to set up date #2.
