Jade Bird approaches Americana with a British sensibility, blending pop and punk influences with the singer/songwriter tradition.
Born in Northumberland, Bird eventually moved to London, and later to Germany and Wales, as a child. She eventually attended the BRIT School in Croyden, where she honed her songwriting chops and played concerts.
Based on her talent, Bird landed a management deal shortly after graduating. That early professional entryway led to a deal with Glassdoor Records and a South by Southwest showcase in 2017.
Bird released the EP Something American in 2017 and two years later followed it with her self-titled debut album. In 2019, she was nominated for Emerging Act of the Year at the Americana Music Awards.
She released her sophomore album Different Kinds of Light in 2021.
As she tucks into a cherry bagel, cup of tea and chocolate orange, Jade Bird discusses her new album Different Kinds of Light, her transition to moving to the USA and why acoustic performance allows her to express herself with total honesty.
Jade Bird is just 23 and has two impressive records to her name. From the direction of Different Kinds of Light, her future could be about to take flight.
It may have been billed as an intimate evening of acoustic music, but at their show at The Burl in Lexington, Kentucky, vocal powerhouses Jade Bird and Savannah Conley certainly filled the instrumental void (and then some).
The singer will be performing a ticketed live-stream event from RCA studios on February 13th.
