Ernest has released an acoustic version of the warm, wistful ‘Comfortable When I'm Crazy’ via his new Salvage Sessions video series. The song is taken from his 2022 project, Flower Shops, which was recently included in Holler's Albums of the Year 2022.

In the midst of a sumptuous sea of steel guitar, Ernest's honeyed vocals weave seamlessly in and out of focus. The song follows the same, troubled protagonist of ‘Flower Shops’, the album's title-track, as he is caught between his demons and his love.

The acoustic version introduces a new sense of fragility to the song, with the sparse scrapyard setting of the video amplifying the pained lyrics (“Heaven knows it’s all my fault/Between you and pills and alcohol”).

Fans will be hoping that this marks the first in a series of Salvage Sessions from Ernest, and some may even be wondering whether a full-length acoustic album could be on the way. Ernest has already released a stripped-back rendition of his Morgan Wallen-assisted hit, ‘Flower Shops’.

Holler recently spoke to the Nashville crooner's good pal HARDY, who confirmed that a collaboration between himself, Ernest and Wallen “will happen”.

While we wait for more updates on this, we'll keep an eye out for the next instalment of Ernest's Salvage Sessions. If the first is anything to go by, we're in store for another captivating performance from the illustrious singer-songwriter.
