Kentucky's country individualist, Tyler Childers, has launched his new Hickman Holler Radio show. The project consists of a series of in-depth discussions between Childers and a variety of guests, the first of which is his long-time band, The Food Stamps.

The purpose of the new show is to enable fans to peer under the hood of Childers' 2022 project, Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?. The album was praised across the industry, but critics also acknowledged its opacity and enigmatic quality.

On the Hickman Holler Radio show, Childers unfolds some of the thematic layers and complexities of the album, which largely revolves around theological notions of ecumenism and universalism.

Aside from this, Childers also explains the predominant musical influences behind the album, and the rationale behind the unconventional decision to divide the project into three parts, with each song having a ‘Jubilee’, ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘Joyful Noise’ version.

Three of the Hickman Holler Radio show episodes are currently available on Apple Music. Along with Childers' interview with his band, The Food Stamps, fans can also hear him discussing Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? with his sound engineer and album producer, Kenny Miles, as well as DJ Charlie Brown Superstar. Childers cites the latter as having helped him to craft the unique, genre-defying sound of the project, which incorporates a range of gospel and soul influences.

Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? reached No. 3 on the Billboard US Top Country Albums Chart and No. 8 on the Billboard All-Genre Chart. It is largely considered Childers' most powerful and ambitious record to date, and fans will no doubt be glad to hear him enhancing their listening experience through the details and intricacies he offers on his Hickman Holler Radio show.
