Folk singer/songwriter Dori Freeman draws on the Appalachian tradition in her music, delivering earnestly penned songs with pure-throated vocals.
Born in the Appalachian town of Galax, Virginia, Freeman grew up in a musical family. Both her grandfather and father played bluegrass and traditional songs.
With that influence, Freeman's songwriting tends to update classic themes with a contemporary twist. Her self-titled debut studio album came out in 2016. Freeman followed it with 2017's Letters Never Read and 2019's Every Single Star.
In 2021, she released her fourth album Ten Thousand Roses.
